Hello All,
I really appreciate this forum because we're all here for one reason and that is wet shaving my friends. When in need of a question to be answered I come here lol. Any who I have a question about a aftershave and where it can be purchased. I want to purchase Wesley & Scotts aftershave balm and can't find it anywhere. Also before you apply an aftershave do you use an alum block to clear all the nicks or in general heal your skin from any burns or irritation? Is it different from styptic pencil? Would you recommend using an alum block with someone who has sensitive skin so that in the next 24 hours the following shave would be even greater!
Thanks for taking the time to read this and helping out!
Have a great day!
P.S. - does it matter which Alum Block brand to purchase?

I always use the alum block after I have rinsed my face following shaving. I then clean up to let it dry, then rinse the alum off (optional), and then apply aftershave. Potassium alum is the preferred one, ammonium also exists. As to brand, I use Bloc Osma, but others exist. Sorry, can't help you with that purchase, but someone will know.

I'm pretty new to this whole game myself, but I just went on amazon and bought the least expensive block I could: it was about $4+shipping, and while not very large, has served me well so far:
It works and feels similar to a styptic Pencil (stops nicks and weepers, stings for a second) but has one critical difference: no white crusty residue!
as for aftershave, my post-shave routine is: warm water rinse to clear any left over soap, cold water rinse to close pores, alum block all over face to seal nicks and weepers and soothe razor burn, clean up shave den, witch hazel as secondary razor burn/weeper/nick treatment, and then clubman aftershave. fin.

Maybe this thread/review could be helpful: "How to use the Alum Block (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=143957)".
