THubbard76, Sullybob and I are planning to meet for lunch on the 26th around 11am.

We're still nailing down the location, but the guys have suggested offal.

Who's in? :thumbup1:

Austin

I hope the food is better than the name of the place.

I thought he was saying it's Andrew's birthday.

Mr. Scruffy

offal?

Can I brownbag it instead?

Spivey

I should have said, "the guys have suggested we find a place that serves offal."

I'm with you, Harry. However, I feel sure there isn't a place in Austin that serves only offal. We'll be fine.

TonyH

OK OK. I was just joking about the offal (mostly).

It'll most likely be BBQ, or something more friendly to the non-chefing public. I'm going wherever you guys decide.

Sully and I will go eat guts another day...

Does it taste like chicken, sweetbreads or its name?:tongue_sm

Call me tentative for now. Would be great to see and catch up with you guys! :thumbup1:

Wink serves sweetbreads and they do a good job preparing them.

Come on, Lewis!

We just need to nail down where we're meeting.

Sullybob needs a Texas BBQ education, me thinks.

but there are so many choices for barbeque.

Salt Lick - driftwood or round rock
Cooper's - llano
Kreuz Market - lockhart
Black's - lockhart
Artz Rib House - austin
Green Mesquite - austin
Iron Works - austin

Just to name a few :001_smile

Salt Lick and Kreuz were worth a trip, and I worship at the altar of Sonny Bryan's in Dallas.

Gotta move to Tejas. :tongue_sm

I'm going to have to disagree with Green Mesquite. To each his own.

We'd spoken about Salt Lick or one of the Lockhart legends.

Honestly, my favorite is Salt Lick, especially since the Round Rock location opened. It's closer to home, the water tastes good, and they take charge cards. The downside vs. the Driftwood location is they have a liquor license so you can't bring your own, and the atmosphere isn't quite the same.

Well, I suppose we should also think about one of the Elgin places.

In the end, I think the north Salt Lick location is going to be the closest to most of you (I live ~5 miles from Driftwood).

TonyH

Any decision yet?

Spivey
02-19-2011, 02:38 PM
I was just thinking about that, Tony. I think that, if everyone's in agreement, we'll just plan to meet at the Salt Lick in Round Rock at 11am.

How does everyone feel about that?

TonyH
02-19-2011, 09:22 PM
Okie dokie.

Sullybob

That sounds good to me too.

You should, Mrs. thubbard likes her.

You should, Mrs. thubbard likes her.

That's one more reason for her to come :thumbup1:. Besides, good BBQ really isn't a hard sell.

Mrs. Spivey will not be able to attend. She's taking the kids to Birmingham.

So, if I'm counting right, we have: THubbard76, Ms. THubbard76, Sullybob, Mrs Sullybob, LDPhillips, Dustinl (?), Texbilly (?), Mr. Scruffy (?) and myself.

Even if the tentative folks come, there's no need to call ahead with that size of a group.

11:00am, The Salt Lick, Georgetown, TX.

I plan on bringing some Pinaud products (that I don't plan on leaving with) and my newly restored Sheffield wedge.

Should be a great time!

Wish I could go, but SWMBO's "honey-do" list is growing exponentially. Gotta do what she says or I'll lose my tee time too!

Harry, we're tentatively planning for a larger meetup for late spring/early summer, along the lines of what we did at Threadgill's last year. Hopefully you could plan farther out and be able to come! We'd love to get all of the TX folks together, or at least as many as possible.

Mrs. Sullybob isn't going to make it. My oldest boy is going to a sleep over and I have designated her the kid chauffeur. :blushing:

I'll bring my new brush. I don't know about trying to unload my gently used stuff on you guys, you don't seem to want my Pinaud Bay Rum
