Hello all. Been lurking for a little bit but finally joined to participate. In my 20s to early 30s I used to rip hairs out of my face with something resembling a marital aid with multiple razor blades on the end. The TV commercials led me to believe this was a good razor. After all, what says "BBS" better than showing some manly guys driving around in sand dunes in what appeared to be a super-fast-yet-ridiculously-over-reinforced-and-heavy dune buggy. Oh wait, that was for the other brand. Maybe I chose my brand because of the dueling fighter jets. I can't remember for sure. But I do remember something about my last cartridge razor and the Large Hadron Collider.

I was tired of getting ripped off by cartridge blades that ripped hair out of my face while shaving off my skin. Based on just the cost of the cartridges, it was costing about $1 per shave! Plus, "comfort strips" are designed to dissolve, intending to "discomfort" you if the blades don't first, which was like turning the knife after sticking me with it.

I wish I had found more info about DE razors because I that was what I was looking for but wasn't sure what to call them or search for. I used a few Braun shavers over the years, too, and I swore I would never use an electric again. I modified it to only exclude Braun razors and keep an open mind. I gave the Panasonic ARC IV wet/dry shaver a chance. I still like it as long as I shave with water and soap/cream. My wife says it shaves me closer and smoother than any cartridge razor/vibrator combo ever did. I agree. It is amazing but I know I'll still prefer a DE razor.

I placed an order for an EJ Chatsworth set. I'm looking forward to hanging out here and learning more. Thanks for reading.

Welcome! I have the Geo Trumper version of the Chatsworth and love it.

Funny, I used Brauns for years and think they're great as far as electrics go. Convenient, but definitely not on a par with a good blade!

Ah ha!!!...so that's were you've been hiding all this time...lurking no doubt (another one comes out from the mist). :lol1:

Anyway, welcome to the B & B (besides being enrolled in the fictional, sacred and utopian Order of Shavedom). Please feel free to come up to the sun deck 'sit-a-spell' and thank you for dis-engaging you're 'lurking device'.

It sounds like you're off to a great start (trash / give away those cartridge blades), and yes...this Forum has the knowledge, ideas, and alround 'know-how' to assist in your Wet-Shaving experience. In a nut-shell...your 'gonna' love it here.

Also, it is very wise and 'sage' advice to get a Razor Blade Sampler to see what blade is a good fit (mild, moderate & aggressive, ect...), for your face and Razor...I happen to like Feathers, Kai's, Treet, Astra's and Gillette 7 O'Clock's just to name a few with my Merkur's 23C & 38C razors.

Although, you may not be additted yet (I think I'm holding up fairly well...with a few exceptions), because we all suffer (gladly and are doomed perhaps ), from this shaving complusion (and other Acquisition Disorders), because at times..."Resistance is futile". http://www.freesmileys.org/smileys/smiley-alien003.gif

Below is the B & B Wet Shaving Threads and Tutorials.

Please don't forget once you get time....please tell all of us a little about yourself in the Hall of Fame sub-forum.
