Hello all. Been lurking for a little bit but finally joined to participate. In my 20s to early 30s I used to rip hairs out of my face with something resembling a marital aid with multiple razor blades on the end. The TV commercials led me to believe this was a good razor. After all, what says "BBS" better than showing some manly guys driving around in sand dunes in what appeared to be a super-fast-yet-ridiculously-over-reinforced-and-heavy dune buggy. Oh wait, that was for the other brand. Maybe I chose my brand because of the dueling fighter jets. I can't remember for sure. But I do remember something about my last cartridge razor and the Large Hadron Collider.
I was tired of getting ripped off by cartridge blades that ripped hair out of my face while shaving off my skin. Based on just the cost of the cartridges, it was costing about $1 per shave! Plus, "comfort strips" are designed to dissolve, intending to "discomfort" you if the blades don't first, which was like turning the knife after sticking me with it.
I wish I had found more info about DE razors because I that was what I was looking for but wasn't sure what to call them or search for. I used a few Braun shavers over the years, too, and I swore I would never use an electric again. I modified it to only exclude Braun razors and keep an open mind. I gave the Panasonic ARC IV wet/dry shaver a chance. I still like it as long as I shave with water and soap/cream. My wife says it shaves me closer and smoother than any cartridge razor/vibrator combo ever did. I agree. It is amazing but I know I'll still prefer a DE razor.
I placed an order for an EJ Chatsworth set. I'm looking forward to hanging out here and learning more. Thanks for reading.
