Through the kindnes of Dr Colossus loaning me his Feather DX non folding, I bring you the following comparrision pics of these two reknown disposable blade razors.

The blade depth on the KAI is slightly deeper than the Feather, which explains why the Lights never worked in my KAI. In other words: a given blade will stick out farther loaded into the Feather than it will loaded in the KAI.

Feather blade depth:6.86mm
KAI blade depth:7.41mm

The Feather is more tip heavy, however is lighter overall (45g versus 55g for the KAI). It has cleaner lines, whereas the KAI has the lather anti-turbulence ventilators sculpted into the head, as well as a ribbed tang.

Nice comparison pictures. Are you going to review the differences in shaves?

Interesting. I was wondering how much weight the handle wrapping your Kai might be adding, so instead of asking I decided to weigh mine which has no wrapping. :001_tongu And for fun weighed my Feather AC Folding model, both without blades. What I found was:

Kai non-foldiing: 52g
Feather folding: 53g

And when weighing just the blade holder part that separates from the main razor:

Kai: 8-9g
Feather: 11g

Which confirms your observation of the Feather being more head heavy.

Also I noticed that the head of my Feather folding razor was just a little different that the non-folding one you posted:

Here the round hole that accepts the pin on the blade holder does not extend all the way to the heel of the razor. Maybe yours is a newer design?

Or it's the different head casting for the folding head than the non folding. Thanks for adding the pics!

Thanks for posting. I have both the Feather and the Kai in both the folding and non folding. and use either one depending on the shave I'm looking for. I'll use the Feather when I feel the need for a heavier razor when going ATG, and want to get even closer shave. I'll use it sometimes when I'm using my non dominate hand as it stays nice and close to the skin. For most regular shaves I find myself using the Kai for the entire shave.
