Greetings followers of SCAD, RAD, SBAD and all of the other delightful shaving acquisition obsessions. I have that feeling that acquisitions may slow slightly before the upcoming income tax deadline.. Just remember, while it may be too late to provide additional charitable deductions for last tax year, there's plenty of time to make them (especially to the old age home for wayward lathermeisters:001_smile ) for this year!
Good shaving and good shopping!
Hello,
my acquisition for this week (I hope it'll be arrive tomorrow):
I've bought an EdT, from Ebay, called "Grigio Perla" (La Perla, Morris Inc.) a rare scent, which is not more listed.
I think it's a great scent, I had a sample as a present for my birthday, about 3 years ago and I've searched the whole time for it:001_rolle :001_rolle
Now I've had the luck to find it on Ebay:thumbup: , feel great now...

Hello Gentlemodes,
by accident I won a Fatboy Razor for $16 something but the seller only accepts Cash/Cheques well since im in the Netherlands it doesnt make sense to send him cash. anyone up for it should contact me A.S.A.P I can hook you up.
im also sending the the next highest bid guy a text if he wants to take it over but I thought perhaps someone here might enjoy the razor aswell...

I dont know if this is the right place to put this advert. I want as many traffic as possible to perhaps make a newbie happy or collector.
Moderator you have my permission to move the adv. if needed.

Has anybody here ever tried Caswell-Massey #6 cologne? I just bought some today, I admit I'm not a fan of their shaving creams or soaps, but this cologne seems like it could have a little potential.

I got the Greenbriar from Rik. Man, that's some strong stuff. I personally like it. I haven't tried the #6 yet. I e-mailed CM and requested samples of their colognes. We'll see what happens.
Imagine my surprise to come home from work today and find that an order I placed on Monday had already arrived. Thanks Classic Shaving!

For quite some time now, I have been eyeballing these two items. I've wanted a slant bar for about 4 months now, but based on some advice from a more experienced shaver, I forced myself to wait until I had my technique down cold. I originally thought the chrome model was a better looking razor but after seeing Andrew's gold Hoffritz, I was bitten by the bug.
I have been intrigued by the Dominica Bay Rum Lime Cologne since Christmas, but at the time I had 4 Pinaud scents and 7 Crusellas scents on the way and decided to wait. It is here, and it is phenomenal. When the bottle was first uncorked, I was truly swept away. I had to put the cork in my mouth to keep from drinking it.
I am really looking forward to shaving with the slant and finishing with this great scent.

Hey Ron,
I see you went back to your roots, nice grab! I am loving my Lime and Lemon/Lime Caswell-Massey. I also got the Jockey Club but have only sampled the cologne and a/s balm, maybe I will use it today. Do you find it is the same scent as to when you used it many moons ago? Man, that is some strong stuff!
Cheers,

It seems a bit sweeter and perhaps a bit stronger, but the fundamental fragrance is very much the same. (Remember, you are asking me to recall a fragrance from over 35 years ago!) Funny thing is SWMBO remembers it on my person and sniffingly approved. I'll be wearing the suite this Saturday or Sunday.

On Tuesday, my handmade Shavemac finest badger brush (23 mm) arrived.
I recieved Taylor's Eton College and Avacado creams yesterday. I should now have enough creams and soaps to last me well into next year.
The only other things that I might end up getting would be getting a pre-shave cream and a witch hazel toner.
But hey, I spent about the same amount of cash for all my stuff as my brother did for a "good" electric razor, so that's not too bad. The big question is how long it will take before he wants to start trying out my supplies...

Hi all,
Recently purchased the items below off of eBay...
Paid $29 for the Parker fountain pen & pencil set. The FP is a Parker 51 even though the box shows Parker "21".
The Gillette Toggle is very nice. The case and razor are in just about near mint condition. Paid a bit over $100 for it.

Kyle, how do you like the Domica Bay Rum? I think this is the same Bay Rum that my father used many years ago. Can you smell the lime in it?
The scent is absolutely perfect, and yes, the lime smell is pronounced.
Since I am awaiting the arrival of an atomizer, I have had to use the cologne as a splash. I'm hoping that a change in application process will allow more efficient coverage and ultimately greater staying power. Right now the smell is all but gone after 4 hours.
As a side note, when I'm wearing this cologne, my wife can barely keep her hands to herself.

Well, not a shaving acquisition, but I picked up a Palm TX PDA for work/home use. This thing is awesome, and with built in Wi-Fi, as you can see, I can sneakily access B&B while out and about.

That pda looks great. I may be in the market for a new palm pilot. I have always owned Handspring PDAs. I have not updated since the merger. I was looking at the Treo but they feel bulky. I like carrying my phone in my pocket and not on a belt case.

I did a lot of research before settling on the TX. Pocket PC devices are too slow, and the Palm software is very nice. Synchronizes beautifully with my work calendar and e-mail, plus built in BlueTooth and wi-Fi. The screen is the best one out there - just gorgeous color and contrast.
I looked into getting a Treo, but it is way too bulky. I am going to pick up a RAZR or similar slim phone to replace my againg Samsung, and keep the PDA function separate on the Palm. Best of both worlds this way, especially when they can communicate with each other through BlueTooth.

Still exploring. Got the following:
-Merkur HD razor
-Merkur blades
-Vulfix #403 ("Mayfair") brush
-Tabac shaving soap
-Taylor shaving soap
Really curious about the Taylor soap. I've read an awful lot about their creams here, but can't seem to find any comments on the soap. Anyone have experience with this stuff? Nice clean scent. Already tried the Tabac. It's amazing compared to the soaps I've tried so far.

by Phone bill charges ran into $500 .... The company was shocked by my first bill
which was quite some money but I used the excuse I had the permission of the manager for emergency calls and got away..this second which was the bomb. they got a phone list and asked me to cross which is used for personall use..oh HELL imagine all the shave gear you could have bought..

It's the little 57g "unscented" puck. It certainly has a scent, just a pleasant soapy one.
Incidentally, I found out the hard way about not all soaps melting in the microwave (as all my previous samples had). I bought the Tabac as a refill because I wanted to use my own mug. Of course, it didn't fit. I thought ten seconds of nuking would do it. After three minutes, it was still not melting, but it had softened enough at the edges to get down in the mug. I began to fear if it finally did melt, it would all separate out and be a shadow of its former self. I think a quick note to NASA might be in order about using Tabac shaving soap pucks to replace the current space shuttle tiles. :biggrin1:

Hi Ken,
Quite often there are differences in hard milled soaps of different fragrance and size that are not found in creams. These differences arise from the milling or pouring. As far as unscented, while it may be really odoriferous, the term unscented usually applies to the addition of essential or fragrance oils added to the formulation for the sole purpose of adding fragrance. The scents that arise from the constituents of the formulation, e.g. juniper or aloe vera, are merely an extra bonus..

Scotto,
Please give an update in a week or two after you have put the TX through it's paces. I use 3 different Palm devices, the most current is a TE, but I also use my m500 frequently throughout the day. Is this your first PDA?

Ron, I read your page, and it's fantastic info indeed. However, this sounds so stupid and even foolish from my side, but I have a problem. I can't stretch my skin when I shave. If I try to pull it taught, I experience terrible pain in my cheeks, I don't know why. I went to 2 doctors, and they were both flabbergasted, they both just shook their heads in disbelief and confusion. One said it was either neurological or he didn't know. Still, your technique is masterful, and I'll certainly thank you for your great advice.
