Hey Guys,
Some of you may have heard about the recent flooding in Queensland that cause so much drama. Well, Queensland being Queensland has copped it again, this time a cylone ripped through some smalled town in the north. Fortunatly this wasn't as devastating at the floods, though sadly, one person has dies as a result of the cyclone, in an extremly hjoorrible and possibly preventable way which makes it a tough pill to swallow. May they rest in peace.
Anyway, because of the recent crazy wether, Melbourne has copped it too!
I'm out at Narre Warren in the Eastern Subburbs.
Here's a link to an album i created on Facebook, this is about a block away from my place.

My back yard flooded to a point last night i had to dig trenches to drain the water away to prevent water getting in the house. It worked, but there is rain expected tonight, though form what i hear we should only be getting a few showers.
I've never seen flooding like this before, i've seen wet paddocks and some water over roads, but never like this. It's pretty amazing how fast it can happen.
Cheers,

I hear the storms that are dumping on you in Melbourne caused some grief in Canberra too. It's just a shame they haven't knocked the edge of the heat here in Sydney.
Stay safe, and dry! Thanks for the pix btw.

Is it still hot up in Syders?
I'm working up there Monday and Tuesday, I heard it was well and truly hot toward the end of last week.
We haven't had too much extra rain yet, so we're doing OK, I'm really glad i'm able to take photos of it without having to worry.
I was talking to my mum today and she reminded me this weekend 2 years ago we were under pretty serious fire threat, from the exact area in the photos.
Its been a strange year weather wise.

And good on ya for taking the initiative to get out there and do the digging! Too many people just panic and watch the water rise. I'm originally from South Louisiana, and have spent a few hours on tractors unflooding yards in the midst of hurricanes...sometimes you don't have to do much to keep the house dry. Other times there's nothing you can do. The good news is that you're in a position now to help out those less fortunate!

I didn't know what else to do! ha ha ha
My house is on a plateau about half way down a hill, so as the water ran down from about me it hit the back wall of my house and started to pool. The trenches i dug were to each corner so it had somehwere to go, it worked well, took about an hour for it to drain away, though half of the soil from my back yard is now between my carport and the road...

Better than half the water still draining from your living room!

Last night minimum temp: 30. Which sounds alright if we're talking Fahrenheit, but when we're talking Celsius, it's :mad3::blush::blushing::confused1

uuurgh, i'm not going to enjoy this! I lived in Wollongong for 3 years while i was working at the steelworks in Port Kembla, so i became accustomed to the warmer climate up there - and loved it, now i've turned Mexican again, so i cant handle the heat anymore...
Here's some more pics i uploaded today - the Taxi in the photos was on the front page of the Sunday Herald Sun today! we're famous!!!! he he he

Just so you know, we had a very welcome cool change today. People all over Sydney are all of a sudden wondering why they threw away their tracky dacks.
Yeah at 11.30 am i was trimming and mulching my overgrown macadamia trees and the temp was 37c in which i was sweating like a racehorse however at 4.30pm I went and had a shower and a great shave and considered putting on a jumper. It had dropped to 23c which after a week of over 35c is a cool change i was not used to.
