Hi guys.

I've ended up in a situation that I'm not sure how to handle best and wanted to see what you advice. As I'm after advice on how to best solve this issue I would prefer that this thread doesn't turn into a complaint thread regarding this vendor.

As most of you know, Ray at Gentlemen's Best had medical issues that got him into trouble. I had a straight that had been out for honing since September and he told me early December that he had shipped it back to me. I never saw it though and was accepting the fact that I would never see it again. I just got back from a conference tonight and just found a package waiting for me from GB. It had been held by the post office and forwarded to my new address with a bit more than a month's delay (thanks USPS).

I was very happy and opened the package only to find that it wasn't my straight that he had sent back to me but someone else's.

Now, I have no idea who's razor this is and I'm guessing that the only certain way would be to try to get the info from Ray. I would guess that he is in a situation where this really wouldn't be a priority and I'm not even sure that I would be able to get the info from him.

What would you advice? Try to track down the info from Ray and send the razor to its owner or just be happy that I at least got one razor back from him even though it wasn't the right one? I would feel better if I could find the owner of it but I'm not sure if that will work ... might be worth a try though.

PM a mod. I think most of them know Ray and they will probably give you the best advice.

I would get a message to Ray and let him know what has happened, but not in an angry way. Chances are that the other person got your razor has already contacted Ray, and he is waiting to hear from the second person who got a wrong razor so he can sort the problem out.

Any chance you could describe the razor? The true owner might be another B&B'er, and knowing the real owner might help sort things out if Ray isn't communicative. Plus, somebody might find out where their razor is.

BTW, if it's a "Soligen Omor" in ugly yellow-and-white scales that look like eggdrop soup, it's actually mine.

Yeah, I wasn't sure if I should post the description here or not. I was a bit afraid of getting several "It's mine" and was hoping that if someone saw this they might let me know if they indeed had lost one.

And no, it's not a solingen :001_smile

This is the best course of action.

Right, I'll try. I hope he's in good enough condition to check his emails. I didn't have much luck in getting in contact with him earlier.

I am making these comments in my private capacity as a member, not as a Mod or representative of B&B ...

First, I applaud Mikael's honesty in bringing this forward, rather than just saying "wel, a bird in the hand ... " and keeping slient.

Hopefully there is only one other guy with the wrong razor in the mail, rather than some bizarre game of "musical razors". Anyhow, in my personal opinionit seems like this is an issue between the OP and GB/Ray ... hopefully Ray gets two phonecalls "you sent me a DOVO instead of my TI" and "you sent me a TI instead of my DOVO" and it can be straightened out easliy.

Anyhow, good luck!

The original post from this thread has been brought to the attention of the Mods. I doubt that any of the Mods would be in a position to assist the OP in sorting out this situation. The OP should deal with Ray/GB directly, just as he would any other vendor.

I've started a thread and put up pictures of both my missing razor and the one whose owner I'm looking for. Feel free to add your missing razors there: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=192079
