It seems like both of these get consistently good reviews on here. Can anyone give me an idea what the scent of each is like and how strong it is? I am getting an itchy trigger finger for another WCS purchase!

Go with the Musgo. You won't regret it. The reviews of each give pretty good overviews of their respective scents.

I only have the splashes.

Musgo smells more like 'cologne' - in fact, I usually don't wear cologne if I use it. I find it better at moisturizing and a good winter AS.

Proraso smells a bit fresher and the scent doesn't linger. Since it has a cooling effect, I like this during summer.

It's hard to go wrong with either, honestly. They're very different.

I'm a balm user, and I've used both. They're both excellent. I'm not crazy about the Musgo scent, so I prefer Proraso.

Agree with Insomniac above: for winter (and without cologne), choose Musgo. Fro summer, it's Proraso. Two of the best you can get -- buy them both!

Pretty much covers it.

+1

This would be my one and only if I had to choose.

The Proraso has a menthol/eucalyptus fragrance and I am not keen on that or most any menthol/eucalyptus products.

Without a doubt, get them both!

Musgo in the winter, Proraso in the summer. I have both, and enjoy both!

While I enjoy both, the only one I can say I would get again anytime soon is Musgo. I love the scent of Musgo so much that I will never be without it. :001_wub:

If forced to chose? Proraso

Sorry, I don't like Musgo's scent, but I do agree that it works well for your skin after the shave. I may be giving it away if my brother gets into this hobby, because I only tried it twice and the bottle is full.

Either will do better than 99% of the AS products sold, and both are in my shave den. I only use two others (Clubman and Bay Rum) now.

Another difference not mentioned is that Musgo is thick - it almost feels like an oil going on. For that reason I don't like it as much as Proraso.

Never tried Musgo but I can vouch for Proraso. Great stuff!

Musgo in winter, Proraso in summer. Can't pick beyond that.

I have to go with Musgo also. I even use it on days when I don't shave. It really helps me in the winter cold and dryness, seems to protect exposed facial skin when I work outdoors. I started off with Proraso a while back, It's O.K. but never really did that much for me. Once I tried Musgo, I never went back to Proraso. I still have half a bottle of Proraso in the cabinet somewhere.

I decided to go with the Proraso for now, as it seems like the consensus is that the scent is a little lighter...

currently waiting for it to get here from WCS...the FedEx tracking says it will be here today!

One to put on your list would definitely be Speick Aftershave Lotion, as I like to rotate this with the Proraso.

I was reading this thread with specific thoughts to contribute and then I read the above. I have to agree. For me, one of the joys of the after shave experience is the bracing, invigorating, tangy sensation of a wet splash. The Musgo does, in fact, almost feel like you are smearing oil onto your face. So you do not get that bracing, tangy, invigorating sensation. Now, I suppose the sensation of oil can be luxurious in its own way, and if you're in the mood for it, that's fine. But if you're like me and enjoy the cool, bracing, tangy invigorating sensation of a wet, cool splash . . . then I'd have to vote for the Proraso.

Musgo has a very masculine scent. I really don't know how to describe it but you likely won't be disappointed.

Poraso smells very good but I prefer the Musgo.
