I was vegetarian for a year, I wound up being unhealthily underweight. Now I eat meat and am in much better shape. Thank you bacon, and thank you meat.

I knew 2 vegetarians that fell to bacon.
One girl only ate bacon for meat, but it was a start.

Bacon has power. Unlimited power!

My parents were vegetarians, so I mostly grew up vegetarian. I was healthier when I was a vegetarian, because I did it right. I love meat, I think actually I started with a eating a whole chicken from Boston market. Bacon was second though.

Next it will be liver and onions with bacon, then to the ultimate contra-vegetarian foods- lamb and veal.

Thin sliced bacon is just wrong on so many levels...

When I first met my wife she was a vegan. I swear it was vege burgers and hummus every damn meal. And I'm a real, in the flesh, foodie who will road trip 12 hours for a couple slices of pizza. But every Sunday morning I'd make a package of bacon nice and crisp and leave it on the counter so whenever I walked by I could grab a slice. Just a quick history for you all, I ate bacon without missing a day for 12 years once. Anyway, she walks into the tv room one Sunday and says, "I did some bad." I asked what and she she said I ate the bacon. I told her no by deal a slice of bacon ain't going to kill her. She said, "No. Not a slice. I ate the bacon...all the bacon."

True Dat. Bacon is the gateway food converting veggies one beautifully crispy strip at a time.

Which bacon do people prefer? British, American, or Canadian?

I like regular American thick cut bacon. We just call Canadian bacon back bacon, but we all really know it's just ham.

That looks yummy!

Doesn't fit my low-fat diet very well, though...

On the other hand, I have been known to cheat my diet on occasion...

If you were underweight, you were doing it wrong. I'm veggie, been that way for a year now. I'm in the best health since high school, run marathons, and its all good.
That said, bacon is one of the two things I miss, the other being a good gyro. After much experimentation I found that it was the spice on the meat, not the meat itself, that I liked. But can't make anything taste like bacon. I actually made a bacon explosion to share at work. I didn't eat a bite, but dang it smelled good.

My favorite homemade heart clogger take a pittsburgh primanti bro. sandwich:

-Two pieces white bread smeared with mayo.
between the bread:
- 1/4 - 1/2 lbs bacon
-vinegar-based coleslaw
-thick cut french fries
-two eggs fried in the bacon grease or in butter
