Well the first try at the HD was better than expected, there was a bit of blood but not too bad! Bizzarly I managed to cut my nostril! Will keep at it and keep watching those you tube broadcasts.
Funny thing, after shaving my skin felt stronger than it has done with multi bade shaving:w00t: , has anyone else experienced this phenomonen?

Yes... one very nice benefit of wetshaving is that our skin begins to feel more healthy!
Beware of the blade! It knows when your concentration is off the slightest bit! :sneaky2:

Thanks so much for all your words of advice. I used a merkur blade(not the one that came free with the razor!) There are not many choices here in Vancouver apart from Gillette or wilkinson sword and I have not seem many good things written about them here. does anyone have any Ideas where I can get derby's or feathers in Vancouver? I guess I can get them on the net but I do like to shop locally!
I was quite suprised how little blood let happened, I am still laugh about shaving my nose though! Oh and one last observation for now. I had no idea that the sound of shaving this way sounds so good, I know I will probably sound really weird but it was kinda theraputic and helped me with the shave.
You know if someone had told me that I would actually wake up in the morning looking forward to, no, actually excited about shaving I would have shown them the door to the lunatic asylum.
There is so little drag on the skin to this kind of shaving and it is much quicker even counting the time preping the skin and lathering up. what two passes achived with the Murkur today the 4 blade power shick would take 6 to get the same effect.
Going retro is really effecting me in a positive way, there is a great deal in the Army principal of KISS( keep it simple stupid!)
Thanks so much for all the words of support and encouragement, what I should have learnt as a teenager I am at last learning as a adult!

Send a PM to letterK or go here (http://westcoastshaving.com/) for the Blade Sampler pack. Well worth the money, gives you a chance to try the more popular blades and find which one "fits" your face best.
Highly recommended.

Not a strange thing to say at all...the sound is really quite nice as you hear each individual hair being cut. Many here have pointed out that the sound will actually guide you to the correct blade angle...as when the blade angle is off it doesn't sound "right." Or when you stop hearing the familiar sound and hear silence, you are alerted immediately to a blade angle mistake.
I agree completely about never thinking shaving would be a pleasurable experience. Now you are "in the know." :a14:
