Welcome to B&B!

If you can get a razor blade sample pack, it would complete your kit!

Thanks guys! Thought of trying the feather blades first cause they came recommended but perhaps I will try a sampler pack in my next online order.. can't get much quality wet shaving stuff in Singapore so it'll come from UK or US probably

Welcome to B&B! Remember not to use any pressure, especially when you are using feathers!

Welcome, and what a great starter kit. I just love it when I see someone starting with a Feather. A nice sharp blade that will enable you to learn the correct technique so quickly. Just remember to let the razor weight do the work. And that Arlington scent is heavenly.:thumbup1:

Welcome 'home' from one newbie to another. From my short experience I can only second (or third or what is it now, eleventh?) the stress on not using pressure. It's tricky to make firm and decided strokes without using pressure, but a few LOL's from SWMBO (I'm not making this up) about the toilet paper on your bloody face really help build your technique!

Thanks for the support guys. I was reading quite a bit about starting with the "not as sharp" blades such as the derby's before progressing on to the feathers and gilette 7O blacks ...

then I figured what the heck. Lets go for the feathers first since there's rave reviews and there have been good reviews on the HD combi with it as well.

I'll let you know how things go. I don't have a beard or a terribly thick stubble. Mainly Moustache and under chin area. If anything goes wrong, there's the alum which I bought as well. :wink2:

Good setup. You should be off to a great start. Start with no pressure and fewer passes. Don't shoot for BBS right off. I heard somebody on here say not to long ago: Only you can feel that you face is not quite BBS, but everybody will see cuts and irritation.

Welcome to B&B.

If you haven't already done so, take a look at this post (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=71700). It provides an excellent road map to your shaving needs.

Also, take a look at the wikis on this site. The one on lather (http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Lathers) is particularly helpful.

And here (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=130110) is a good post that will help you on blade angle.

That's a great starting rig you've got. The Feathers are universally acknowledged as the sharpest DE's, but don't worry. They were the first blades I used. They will certainly make you pay for any missteps, but they're nothing to be afraid of. Just go slow and easy.
