Just wondering if the experienced wet shavers out there could give me an idea as to how long/how many shaves a tub of say Taylors shaving cream lasts.
As a newbie, I'm trying to map out how much trouble my inevitable AD will get me into :tongue_sm

Cream or soap?
Cream in my experience not so long.
Soap lasts for ages.

As a general rule one should maintain at minimum no less than 8 tubs in reserve,12 would be optimal.

I started with jars of Tabac and Mama Bear's (2), and took about 2 years to get down to 1/2 of the last jar. I usually shave every other day and occasionally use cream, but mostly soap. Basically they'll last longer than you think. Having extra on hand is good for rotation but not because you'll run out often.

No matter which I use, it lasts me a very long time. I only shave every 2nd or 3rd day so I'm still on most every cake or tub I've opened.
I will say that a puck of Col. Conk lasts me well over a year if I only use that one puck every shave. Based on my experience with these, I for sure get my monies worth. :thumbup1:

I knocked over a tub of TOBS sandalwood creme in about 3 months. It was about 90% full when it was given to me though.
Soaps? Much longer!

It all depends on the brand you are using. I have a tub of MWF that has lasted me one year and I have not made a dent in it. I have a tub of TOBS almond and after 6 months I have used 30% of it. However, I rotate my creams and soaps so they last longer.

Twelve pucks of VDH soap for approximately fifteen bucks on Amazon, and a puck lasts for months.
I had one tub of TOBS cream and it disappeared pretty fast.

What is the sound of one hand clapping? Does anybody "really" know what time it is? How many licks to the center of a Tootsie Pop?
Who knows how long anything "really" lasts. You just keep adding soaps and creams on top of each other and unless you have discipline of Herculean proportions one specific soap or cream doesn't stay in rotation long enough to use it from beginning to end in one straight shot.
Take, e.g. my tub of Proraso. I started to use it last March or so and I am still using it. BUT, after using it daily for lack of other options, and absolutely loving it, I bought about a dozen other soaps and creams. So, has my Proraso "lasted" nearly a year? Well, yes and no.
Sorry, you just asked a really existential question. Who's to say?
Just buy what you want and don't worry about it. I have more than 5 years worth of soap and cream and I'll be getting several years more worth when my parents bring me a load back from Italy. Not to mention the cream or two I throw in to get the "free shipping" when I place a blade order in a couple of weeks. LOL
Cheers!

Though I rotate products around quite a bit, judging by my usage thus far I'd say a tub of TOBS cream should last somewhere around 3 months. Of course, YMMV.

The only tub I've used from start to finish (non-stop) was T&H Lime. Took me about four months of daily shaving.

Can-O-Worms(tm), my friend. I asked the same question a couple of months ago before realising that someone else already had a live thread going on the subject. It is one of the eternal questions of life, it seems.
The complex answer is basically, it depends. On what? On everything involved. My 150gm pot of Proraso looks like an 18 month proposition shaving on average 2 days out of 3. A Mennem shave stick lasted me nearly a year before I threw the stub out. A tube of Faulding's cream from the supermarket lasted two shaves
The simple answer is lots and you'll get plenty of warning that you are getting to the bottom of the tub / tube / stick / whatever. Feel free to lay in supplies, we all do, and remember: in the big scale of things soap and cream is cheap and has a long shelf life.

That's a very different question! It depends on a number of factors including the tollerance of others. I find it's best to simply let trouble wash over me rather than resist. I think I may have just discovered a new aphorism:
"Trouble is like a rip tide. Never try fight it, you'll just tire yourself out. Swim with the current and get out of the water somewhere else"
Goes quite well with Greglam's post I think.

in 10 months of DE shaving I've yet to finish a tub because i'm still experimenting and use stuff in rotation, my younger brother on the other hand can finish a tub of TOBS cream in 2 months, shaving 6 days a week.
