I am quickly developing scuttle aquisition disease. I bought a nice dirtybird on the BST a few days ago, but I also saw this one on the Bay I could not resist. It does not look like a Moss or DB. Have any of you seen a similar scuttle?

Hmm...that really is a beauty! I'll be watching here for an answer, too. Good eye!

You can follow this link to Robert Becker's ceramic products where his hand-made scuttles are available. This is a "Buy Now" only website, so no rules are broken!

I was recently PIF'd a Becker scuttle by a very generous member here, and I can vouch for the quality. If you see one you want, grab it! His stock doesn't last long. I think he has something of a following.

I have one that is gigantic. I am pretty sure that it is bigger than the DB 1.5. I have not followed that closely, but in the past six months or so it seems like he has been trying out different sizes and shapes, specifically with the stands and such. I am very happy with mine. I do not think that it is pretty as some of the others (I really like the looks of the G5), but it is very functional and I think that I paid <$25 for it. If you find one you like I would say that you jump on it.

Beckers are pretty sweet and quiet a bit cheaper than others, mind you my DB is my favourite scuttle by far.

That's a beautiful scuttle and very unique. Please give us a compare/contrast with the DB.

Yes I bought the scuttle from a guy named rbecker, I just did not realize that he had made the scuttle, and that his scutttles were commonly known in the B&B community. When I get the 2 scuttles, I will be happy to compare the DB 1.5 and the Becker, although it sounds like quite a few guys out there already have both types. This one cost me $24 plus $10.50 shipping. Here is the listing description:

Dimensions: Outside bowl is 6" diameter by 4" deep. The top bowl 4" diameter by 3 1/4" deep. The sides are more vertical and less rounded. Handle is large enough to insert 3 to 4 fingers inside to make holding the mug easy. The lid is just slightly under 5 inches in diameter.

Water Capacity: This scuttle holds approximately 2 cups of hot water.

So much for the comparison, got my Dirtybird in the mail today, and there was a rattle when I picked up the box off my doorstooop. SHATTERED!!! Crap!! Well, I once again begin my search for a cobalt blue 1.5 DB scuttle.

This one looks terrific, with the brush soaker/dipper. Can't beat the price, either. The thing holds 4 cups of water. In my scuttle the brush falls down into the bowl and gets the handle soapy. He's making the lathering area narrower so that the brush can stand still and stay warm between passes.

I agree. A clever design, and too good for the price.:thumbup1:
