I just read the blog on the Shaving 101 (http://www.shaving101.com/index.php/product-reviews/shaving-soaps/230-p160-tipo-morbido-shaving-soap.html) website and it looks like this soap/cream is discontinued. Most of you probably are aware of that but I just wanted to pass on the message.

After reading the blog I ordered some for myself so I can have the privlage of trying out this amazing soap/cream. If you havent tried it yet I suggest you should try to get ahold of some before its all gone.

Happy shaving everyone,
Brian

I tried P.160 recently for the first time, got it from ItalianBarber, good stuff, seems very similar to Cella (which is one of my favorites).

How strong is the almond scent compared to Valobra almond or cella?

Im not sure about the scent since I have not tried it yet. Once I receive my order I can let you know but by then it may be too late. Valobra is good stuff and the Almond in Cella, I think, is a bit overwhelming. Im hoping it is in the middle of the two.

The Italian barber does sell slices of 125grams and 250grams if you want to just try it out. And that is still a good amount of product.

I find it to be just a tad stronger and sweeter than cella. Performance wise I'd have to say it's just a little bit slicker, from what I have noticed any way.

Thanks for this info! I cant wait to try it out now. I like the lather that Cella gives, I can take or leave the strong Almond smell but it is still a nice smell.

I would put it on par with a Col. Conks almond. Its really nice and sweet, but dissipates quickly after the rinse. I just shaved with it now, and cant smell a thing.

I find the soap to be strongly scented like Cella. But the lather has only a lite and pleasant scent that doesn't hang arround long after your finished. A great soap. Too bad its days are numbered.

As already said, P.160 has a sweeter, marzipan scent compared to my beloved Cella. Compared to Valobra Almond, I would say still slightly sweeter smelling, so Valobra is a closer match. Performance from P.160 is top notch, moisturising on these winter days, and great sickness with cushion. I still give the edge to Cella though.

I don't know if anyone else notices this. But I only smell it when I have the lid off. When it's lathered all over my face I don't smell it at all.

I have been using it, the Tipo Morbido, as my primary for most of the past month. It si the best soap/cream I have even encountered. I will try the other one, Tipo Duro (?) tomorrow. I have a bit less that one huge box of the Morbido. If I like the other one tomorrow, I will order a box of each.

Nothing comes close to it.

It molds the blade to your face and forces it to cut your beard and not your face.

I don't know if you know a liquor called Amaretto but the scent of P.160 tipo morbido is exactly the scent of biscuits made with this liquor and the scent of the liquor too I think.

PS. I have some of tipo duro and less of tipo morbido that I do not use but still I cannot trade them until I will get 50 posts. If you are interested take a look at the marketplace.

The Morbido and the Duro are pretty much identical in performance, the Morbido being the softer of the two. Personally I prefer the Morbido. I seem to get slightly better lather from it. If I was going to stock up, I would favour the Morbido, although from what I can see, most must be preferring the Duro, since I've not seen any around. Either way you'll have a soap that will be sadly missed.

I had read that Marco said that many barbers in Italy preferred the Duro over the Morbido. I had bought 5kg of the Morbido, being that the Duro was so hard to obtain. I traded 100g of my Morbido for the Duro, and I can now honestly say I prefer the Morbido over the Duro. I find the lather is much easier to make, and provides a little bit more cushion. I also find the lather to be a bit more dense. Im not really sure why they preferred the Duro. Either way, I still bought 2 kg of the Duro for prosperity sake.

I can honestly say that this shaving soap/cream is the best I have ever used. I have several unused T&H/Tumpers/Coates that I havent touched since buying this soap. I bought so much of it, because I would be satisfied only using this for the rest of my life.

I have heard each Kilogram brick can last a barber in italy about 2 years. So ill average that to about 4 years for myself, and then we will say I have about 24 years of shaving soap bought.

The thing is, I would sell off all the rest of the stuff I own, but the thought of multiple trips to the post is off putting, and I think i would panic if I didnt have some of my products (that I never use). I know im going to be on A&E one day...

I purchased a block of 1kg last night. Does this stuff go bad after long? Should I stock up on these and Cryovac them? Or should 1 kg last me a lifetime if I rotate in with my others? LOL!
I'm so confused.. I have been DE shaving since Early November, and I have about 2500 blades, 14 DE Razors, and about 50 soaps and creams! I haven't counted the after shaves yet...it seems like every time I come on here, I end up reading a review and buying them. I think I've lost my mind.... seriously.

Supposedly if you keep them sealed, doesnt need to be vacuum sealed, and in a dry dark spot it should last you for years to come.

I wouldnt worry about he soap spoiling. Look at how many vintage soaps are out there and people still use them today. The worst thing that could happen is that the smell dissapates a little but it wont affect the performance.

So I say buy some P160! I bought a 1kg block

I agree. P.160 has quickly become my favorite. So much so that my Trumpers soaps are seeing very little use. I'm currently doing a small rotation with P.160 Tipo Morbido, P.160 Tipo Duro, Cella (a piece from the 1Kilogram block I have) and Klar Kabinett. Truthfully, I could probably just keep these four and be perfectly content for years to come. Not saying I will actually do it though!

You know...i turned around while typing this...and looked at all my "stuff" that I have that I dont use. One day ill post it up as a shave den picture. Its really sickening with all the aftershaves and soaps/creams. I really dont know why I cant give it up. I would like to do a mystery box so to speak, but I dont think it wsould sell, considering so many others havent lately. I have a habit of buying multiples of everything.

When I shop for toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo I usually buy in sets of 2-4. Therefor I have two Coates LE tubs, 2 T&H rose soaps, 4 QED Wild Rose soaps and etc. Yet, I just cant seem to let go of any of this stuff. In fact, I was at a local supermarket store and found Aqua Velva in the glass bottles and bought 5 of them. I DONT EVEN USE AQUA VELVA.

On a side note, I have narrowed down my actual use...

Soaps: P. 160 Morbido and Duro, SMN, Tabac, Domenico Caraceni
Aftershaves: Floid italian Amber, DR Harris Pink and milk, Alt Innsbruck, Proraso

If you take a look at my shave stuff link, you can see how well I have done in actually thinning out my usage heard :P

After all the glowing reviews and impending extinction of this fine product I jumped on the bandwagon and ordered a kg from Joe at ItalianBarber. Of course I had to order a key of Cella to be able to do an objective comparison of these two fine Italian products.

Now I have to sit patiently and wait for the package...

I split a kilo of Morbido with a friend on here and after we split that one we purchased another and split that one too so I have about 2.2 pounds of the Morbido.

We split a smaller amount, 125 grams, of the Duro and I don't think either of us cared for it all that much compared to the Morbido.
