I picked up a Ever-Ready 150 today and restored it.Forgot to take any before pics cause I was so anxious to bring it back to the shaving world.You can use your imagination,soap scum, nicks,scratches, and worn boar hair.No major damage but you could easily tell that it's been around the chin a few times.

Tore the old knot out,cleaned out the inside and opened up the bore.from 20 to 24mm.Filled the cavity with a hot glue gun using formula 200 filling sticks.To get it cool and hard quickly(I'm impatient) I submerged it in a cup of cold water.

Drilled a hole in the center(eyeballed it) threaded it onto a bolt and chucked it in the press.Wet sanded the couple of nicks with 220 then the whole thing with 400,600,1000,1500,2000.After that I used scratch out twice to bring out the shine.Unfortunatly the 150 on the bottom did not entirely survive the sanding process due to uneven stamping.

I installed a 24mm super badger to a loft of 53mm.I always wanted one of these handles.It's got everything,cove,beads,taper,badger.I think it turned out well so I'm pretty happy,not that you couldn't tell.

Information for the wiki so i don't have to post all this in another thread;

That's really nice. Good idea on the hot glue to fill the cavity. I used epoxy,
but the hot glue might be easier.

Good job, I sure love the shape of that handle. It looks really comfortable.

Thankx fellas.From the times I used epoxy to glue in knots it would seem that it dould get messy trying to fill the handle.The glue gun makes it real easy with no mess,I didn't even cover the handle.just stick the tip in:tongue_sm and squeeze the trigger.I'll get to see just how comfortable and easy to handle it tonight when she's all lathered up.

Nice restoration, spanx. Hot glue is a good idea for vintage handles. I use this method too. But if my handle had cracks inside of it I would use epoxy firstly for those cracks then I use hot glue for assembling the knot.

Off the topic gents, which method do you prefer for re-knotting your vintage handles?

I've just got an Ever Ready 250, the handle shape is identical but the writing on the base differs, I wonder what the difference is? Either way I hope it turns out as good as this one!
