Hey All,

I am trying to decide which sampler pack to get between these two:

http://www.amazon.com/Feather-BlueBird-Gillette-Sampler-Blades/dp/B003OL2LHC/ref=sr_1_2?s=hpc&ie=UTF8&qid=1294792165&sr=1-2 from our own NTguy

or

Sample pack

1) 10 blades of Gillette 7 O Clock "Green" ~ made in St Petersburg
2) 10 blades of Feathers ~ made in Japan
3) 10 blades of Supermax Platinum ~ made in India
4) 10 blades of Gillette "Super Thin"
5) 10 blades of Croma Diamant ~ made in Germany
6) 10 blades of Astra "Superior Stainless" ~ made in Russia

Total: 60 blades

Going for US$15 with Shipping to the US, Canada, Europe and Australia included. From Anyeurism

Any Ideas? Are there an others out there I should consider?

Thanks,

JC

Both West Coast Shaving and Bullgoose have quite an array of sample packs...you can check those out for comparison.

My question really boils down to which one has the better combo of blades. I have only ever used a merkur.

I have a royal ton of blades, and I've often thought about the idea of putting together sample packs. Maybe someday.

By the looks of it, I like the second set better. Why? They're all highly regarded, and you get enough of them (each one) to use them for an extended period of time.

I think the 2nd option has the better selection of the two.

I don't think you need 10 of any blade just to figure out how they feel. I just tried an Astra, and I didn't even need to finish the shave to know I didn't like it. Granted, it could have been a bad blade, and I'll keep the pack in case I want to test them again later, but I think two blades is all you need in order to determine preference.

That said, I don't like either of those options. I'd want to try a red Israeli Personna blade.

I got some helpful advice and went to BullGoose Shaving and bought a pack each of the more popular blades on B&B.
