If shaving 7 days a week do you use one blade for 3 days & another for 4 days?, or does anyone try to use one blade for the whole week?.

I go for 2 blades a week. With some blades I can get a couple more shaves out of it but it's not worth it to me. Nothing worse than being in a hurry in the morning and have a blade that's starting to tug and pull...

Well OK, there's plenty worse, but not that can be fixed for that cheap :-)

I'm presently using the Bolzano Superinox Inossidabile blades which last seven days. My other blades are the Red Personnas which I replace every three days. The difference is I bought the Personnas locally but bought the Bolzanos from overseas and wanted to test their longevity. I might do the same for the Personnas now ...

I work 4 ten hour days (Mon-Thurs). So one blade for M-Th, one blade for F-Su. I use Crystal blades and can get 4 shaves out of one easily, just easier to remember when to change this way.

I typically do 3 & out regardless of the day of the week. I always know what shave I'm on with any blade. It kind of depends on the blade as well. Some go 2, others go 4. I never go over 4 with any blade. Blades are cheap. Why bother with the possibility of a blade going bad in the middle of a shave? ( hey, it can happen :thumbdown)

I know what to expect from most of my brands, so it's a pretty easy thing to manage :thumbup1:

I just use a blade untill it starts to tug and then change it, could be 1 could be 10 shaves, I let the blade decide when it needs changing.

No, I use a blade for 2 days (so three of those) and on Sunday a Feather (just once).

I go the entire week with one blade, which is usually 6 shaves, as I skip a weekend day.

I use Derby blades and I also "let the blade decide". For me that usually means 4-5 days on a blade, but there is a lot of variability. Sometimes I only use them 3 days, sometimes 6. So on average it comes out to two blades a week.

For me it depends upon the blade. If I am using the Persona Medical Prep or Lab Blade I change it every six to seven days, otherwise every three for most other blades.

I change blades every three or four days. I do not allow a blade to get dull and tug or pull. Life's too short and blades are too cheap. I honestly don't know how long a blade lasts and don't care to find out.

I use the same blade for a week then switch.
I use a new blade every saturday.

I tend to change up every 3 days, regardless of blade or razor.

I usually use one blade for seven days. If it is a Feather sometimes longer though.

I do just the same. I shave every day.

I never use a blade more than twice. They are so cheap I can afford to use them that way. I've had several blades start great and then get dull in the middle of shaving and it SUCKS. Not worth the risk.

This is my breakdown for changing,
DE, 7 shaves
SE, 15 shaves
Trac II, 15 shaves.

Unless I get a dud blade or decide to use my razor for shaving elsewhere too.

Usually once a week, depends on the blade really, some last longer then others. When I started I would try to make them last longer for some reason, with painful results. I think it was because I was used to a cartridge blade lasting weeks instead of days.

Tried to get a week of shaving out of one blade.

But by the 5th day I noticed my shaves were not smooth.

Went back to 2 blades a week as in changing the blades on Monday and Friday.

I use Feathers almost exclusively and use them for three days. Every time I've tried to get a fourth day from a blade, it starts to tug. Whilst they are probably the most expensive of DE blades, I think twenty pence for three excellent shaves is extremely cheap.

Yup.
When I travel, I use 1 blade a week.

I use RP Personnas and change them after 3 or 4 shaves - if it's pulling on shave 3 I chuck it, and I chuck it after 4 shaves regardless. Figure my blades are costing me under 3 cents per shave (old RP Personna pricing), so it really isn't worth risking it by keeping the blade a day or 2 longer.

Usually 2 blades a week. Continuous use until they need replacing at usually the three day mark.

I put a new blade in on Mondays and Thursdays. Sundays off.

When the blade starts to tug, it gets replaced. Because I use a TTO it is easy to change even in the middle of a shave.

Yep, it's easy that way....no log book in the bathroom, so I can only remember the simple things: new {blade, bath towel, sheets, laundry run} every Monday.

Saturdays and Tuesdays are my 'New Blade Days.' As a number of you guys have pointed out, blades are cheap enough so why take the risk of overusing one?

I shave every day and usually get three to four shaves from a DE blade. Occasionally, I will be able to get more. I rotate razors on a daily basis so I always have a "razor in waiting" if a blade goes bad in the middle of a shave. I have found that some blades from the same manufacturer and from the same pack have different longevity. For that reason, I like to keep a razor at the ready to keep the shaving process moving ahead smoothly.

Best regards,

Doug

For me it's a new blade every three to four shaves. It just depends on how fast the blade starts to tug. When I first started DE shaving it was once a week but I began to notice that razor burn started to set in just about the 4th or 5th shave and I learned that tugging would soon be followed by razor burn.

Too true. I use my DEs for three to five two-pass shaves (though I have binned vertical Derbys and German Wilkies after one), then dump them them in my blade bank regardless of how their third to fifth shave was. I'm still testing the longevity of my injectors and Pella and Treet SEs.

I do the exact same thing. If I feel it tugging it's time to go no matter what, if it still cuts nicely it gets to stay.

I use a blade till it starts to drag, which usually is about 3-4 days. I don't really have a weekly or bi-weekly blade change routine...just sort of change it when needed.

I change when they start to pull, for me that's after 3-4 shaves no matter what blade I'm using. Throw a head shave in and were talking 3 at most. Blades are cheap enough there's no reason to punish yourself.

I change blades every three days. On the days that I change the blade, I clean my razor, wipe it down, and then let it air dry for few hours before I put a new blade in it and put it back on my stand.

I change my feather weakly unless I want to switch razors.
6-7 shaves.
