Hello everyone. I have been wet shaving with a DE now for 16 months now....and that has alot to do with this post. :) I got this as an Xmas gift:
Schick Quatro X-men edition shaver
Schick Hydo canned goo
It was time to check them out after having used a DE for a while now. Everyone needs to get there wallets ready, we are about to have an auction. Up for auction are the following items:
Lord Merkur Tech
Gillette Tech (gold)
Gillette SS 1957
Tweezerman brush
best badger shave brush
200 or so Derby blades
alum block
and about ten shave soaps
heck I will even throw in my wife's complete Lady Gillette shaver collection, she has all the colors.
I realize that wet shaving is a hobby, but why in the world go though all that work when I can get a better shave with no effort at all? I have learned that it is not what you use to shave with but how you use it. It is all about the technique and not about what blade and soap you use. :) I had a two day old face and I did everything else like normal and did a three pass shave. I now have a BBS smooth face WTG and XTG with slight stubble ATG. No bumps, no nicks, nothing. I do not have to worry about blade angle with that Schick. I will have to work on putting my items up for sale. I shall return in a bit. OK I am back........early April fools? Seriously folks, I did get those items for XMas and I did use them today and I did get a great shave, however it was not fun and it was "just a shave". That shaver just lacks the total experience that you get with a brush and DE. It is very nice in a pinch or even for travel, but it feels lifeless and takes skill out of the shave. So no, you can not have my stuff. LOL Thank you all for the help and for sharing this great hobby.
