I just picked some of this stuff up from Sallys yesterday, and have a question. How often are you supposed to change the stuff before making a new batch?
And if you keep the razors in there for more than 15 minutes, will it hurt the razor?

Thanks!

You know Andrew....I want to know that too. I mean we have all seen combs, plastic clipper attachments, ect... in tall jars of barbiside, but I don't know if they ever change the batch. And about leaving DE Razors in there....ahhh  I don't know about that either

Officially, you are supposed to change it daily, or sooner if it gets visibly polluted.

But those guidelines are for hospital-grade disinfection use. I'm sure you can bend the rules quite a bit for personal cleaning up use.

It is an anti-corrosion formula, so 15 minutes isn't going to do any harm. I wouldn't risk storing anything valuable in it permanently though.

By the way, you spelt Barbicide wrong. :biggrin1:

I never used it but I would think frequently. Someone who uses it will surely chip in.

I use Barbicide to clean my razors once/month need it or not. I use a dilute solution (1/2 capful in the scuttle and fill it to 3/4 with water). I put the razors in for 15 minutes or whatever, get them out, give each a once over with a tootbrush...and they shine like new. I'm not thinking I need to use the Barbicide full strength or daily or whatever. YMMV.

Speaking of scuttles, Barbicide would be good for disinfecting the water reservoir every now and then.

Other than that, you can mix up tiny amounts for some jobs, e.g. it wouldn't take much to cover the head of a DE razor using the right container.

The bottle says to change it daily, but that's if you're a barber and are using it all day long. It's not going to lose any potency by just sitting there, so there really is no need to change it until it becomes visibly dirty.

I've left razors in it overnight with no harm done.. I'm not sure I would do it for much longer, though.
