Just stepped up my sock draw and put some Wigwams in .
Really nice socks . Wigwam makes alot of different types of socks. I got one pair called the Wolf

Looking to start treating my feet better. I use a few different types of footwear as well mostly all terrain trail type sneakers and work boots mostly .
Not really interested in dress shoe socks but if you have great socks dress or casual bring it here and let us know.

I used to exclusively wear ThorLos when i taught tennis back in the day, and they saved my feet and back.I m running a lot and have been using champion duodry low cut and they seem ok nothing great

Now i need to get some new tubes and need some advice, so what are you wearing for work casual and play?

Mark's Work Warehouse...Below Zero socks....great winter socks...will be 28 below tonight ( live in Canada) and I wear these in the winter. About $ 23 CAD per three pair.

In the spring, summer and fall I wear Tilley's socks...come with a 3 year non wear out, guarantee....excellent quality. Expensive though...about $ 20 CAD per pair. But you get what you pay for.

Both Canadian socks.

Never get tubes.....I like socks in the form of ...socks.

Cheap socks are no bargain, I've found to my dismay...uncomfortable, ill fitting and rapid wear out.

Oooohohohoho, think I won't pay this thread a visit, do you? Wrong!

Today I went skiing for a short while, and I wore - and I'm still wearing - two layers of WOOL. What else is there? Woolpower 200's with my old army, thick, grey wool socks on the outside.

Ahhh.

I also got a pair of the merino wool comfort hikers from wigwam that are really nice. Basically they were so nice that i think they got me a sock addiction.

For work, I am still wearing the OTC wool dress socks that I got from Jos A Bank. They are not as comfortable as Viccel, but they seem to be more durable.

For casual socks, I am currently trying out a couple of brands, Falke and Pantherella; both are excellent socks. I also have a couple pair of Corgi socks on the way.

+1 for SmartWool. I regularly wear their cycling socks and have yet to find a better, more durable pair of wool socks for such a reasonable price.

At the moment I'm wearing some Dickies work socks. I have 3 pair and wear them frequently.

My favorite socks are my Smartwool Med hikers. Unfortunately, they cost about $15, so I only have one pair.

Thorlo makes socks for everything. I have their hiking socks in wool blend and also full-on polyester. I have relatives who are nurses who are on their feet all day who count on Thorlos to keep their feet happy. The combination of poly/wool Thorlos and New Balance trainers keeps my feet dry and warm in wet and cold places.

Smartwool and Wigwam make good product too.

If you know what to look for, you can find high-wicking work socks at big-box department stores. They are much cheaper, but not quite as effective as the above brands.

I am liking Costco's dress socks these days. Costco does not always have ones I like as to type or "fabric." Before that I was really liking the Gold Toe socks Costco carried, although I like the composition of some off them better than others, too.

If I thought I could get really excellent socks somewhere else that were substantially better for any reason I would pay more. But these seem to look right and stay up, etc., so what is all that much better. I have paid relatively big bucks for socks, only to have the droop down quickly. I suppose I could hand wash them or something, but who wants to have to undertake the effort, if there are socks that look fine to me that take a beating and come up looking pretty good from a regular wash and dryer!

Usually wear Gold Toe. They do seem to wear out in about 3 months.

And if you have the same impression that I do, it seemed like 20 years ago or so it was hard to wear them out at all, much less after just three months. I still like Gold Toe socks. They seem as good as any typical, widely available socks, or better. But they do not seem as "good" as they used to me. Maybe they are made out of different materials now.

Wool Gold Toes. I forget what they are called. QC seems to be hit or miss with them though. I have a few pairs that are great. Moderately warm for the winter, not too thick and stay up on my leg. A few pairs though shrank to ridiculously small sizes (all washed the same, all the same "model") so I need to toss them.

Most of the time I'm wearing some form of LL Bean Wool Cresta Hiking Socks or LL Bean Super Wool Sport Socks.

I also have a few pairs of Brigdale Sport Socks and various Wigwams.
All of which I like.

On duty in my boots its one of 3... thorlos, smart wool, or darn tough vermont socks....I'm trying a few brands to see which ones i like best as im a recent convert to high quality boot socks (used to just wear gold toe crew socks)

Off duty i do triathalons/ lots of running and i really like either thorlos or road runner sports "best running socks" in medium cushion and wear them all the time as they road runners are cheap last a long time and keep my feet bone dry

For dress socks I wear whatever generic dress socks i have at the time as I do not wear a suit very often.

Usually wear these ones, http://www.sportsdirect.com/donnay-mens-socks-10-pack-414065 but a couple weeks ago I bought a 3 pair pack of Nike Dri-Fit socks that I have been pretty impressed with.

They are the first pair of socks I have EVER had that has an orange L & R stamped on them :tongue_sm because they are ribbed to fit each foot. I found them to be breatheable but my Doc Martens boots at the time just held the pools of sweat under my toes.

I wear merino wool socks all year long with my work boots. Started out wearing SmartWool but found RedHead merino wool socks at the Bass Pro that is close by. At 9.95 a pair and if they ever wear out take them back and Bass Pro will replace them how can you go wrong.

On cold day's I've got a couple pairs of Wigwam socks that I wear. I'm not sure of the exact type, but they are definitely warm. On warmer days I just wear Hanes socks, but I've been looking to upgrade, as these aren't made like they used to be. I can remember 5 or 6 years ago buying Hanes socks that would last for at least a year, maybe two. Now, I'm lucky to get six months out of them, and my usage for them hasn't changed.

On another note, I'm surprised by the mentions of dress socks in here. I will do absolutely ANYTHING to avoid wearing dress socks. I buy cotton athletic socks in as many colors as I can find to wear to work in place of dress socks. I've never liked them. I just can't stand the thin, cheap feel of them. They feel like panty hose, offer no cushion (compared to athletic socks), and are overall just horrible, IMO. I've had lots of different brands - Gold Toe, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren, etc., and hated them all.

I have two tennis pros in the family, so I have been well supplied in Thor-Lo socks for the last twenty years. I'm on my own for dress socks, though, and usually pick up Polo socks at Marshall's.

it would be nice to have the cushion and comfort attributes of a great "work/sport" sock rolled into a nice dress sock in different colors. Especially for those of us who are on thier feet while wearing dress shoes and clothes.

Not a thin style, but not a heavy winter weight either.

Preferably for me, I would prefer a OTC style.

Any ides on this one?

Not certain what your OTC options are, but I found these locally.

The only part of the sock showing will be the dark primary color, unless your pants are too short . Not thin / not thick / cushiony.

I should have known that was coming.....

I've tried on a couple of pairs of shoes with the thin panty hose type throwaway socks that some shoe stores have for customers not wearing socks. I always wear sandals in the summer, so I've been stuck using those if I stumble across a pair of shoes I like.

I go through periods where I'm very picky about my athletic socks, and others where I don't care. This year, Wilson low cuts - thin on top, padded on bottom - that I picked up at the TJX stores throughout the spring ($6 for three pair). For work (mostly chinos or dress shirts) I just have a huge variety I've picked up over the years - a lot of Dockers and Bass casual.

But in the summer I mostly wear the socks god gave me covered in a pair of Keen Daytonas (http://www.keenfootwear.com/us/en/product/ss11/shoes/men/blvd/daytona/bison).

Me, too. I buy whatever kind (that is whatever type of yarn they are made of) of Goldtoe socks in black and navy, and some times gray, Costco is selling at the time. I would really prefer a mix of wool and nylon, but the other compositions seem fine. I used to strong prefer over the calf socks so that they would stay up and these Costco Goldtoes are not over the calf. But they seem to stay up fine.

I cannot believe that Costco is selling real Goldtoes socks for as little as they are. I used to order Goldtoe socks on Amazon. I guess they are about all I have worn for decades. I have had some higher end, much more expensive socks, but they do not seem to wear well. In particular they start to fall down around my ankles. (Anyone around here but me actually wear sock garters from time to time? I have some socks, I suppose, that I like even though they droop down. Sock garters absolutely take care of that. I got them to wear with sheer nylon socks with a tux. Such sheer socks are a traditional thing with a tux and patent leather shoes, but they do not stay up at all without garters. But then I found that sock garters had some use in business wear. I do not wear them very often, but they are nice to wear when I need them.)
