After my dog was hit and killed by a car last fall I swore I would never get another dog... living on a highway and having a dog is a very bad combination and losing that dog devistated me.. I still miss him every single day...
But friends of mine had one that got too big for them and they decided they wanted him to go to me because I had loved my other dog so much...
I have had him for a couple months now.. and other than him eating my steak Saturday night... we are getting along quite well... Has anyone here had a Mastiff?? he is a handful! This is Tank......

dang girl, what do ya feed him, door to door salesmen?
Oh boy! I've wanted a mastiff for the past 12 years. Until recently we've lived in an apartment. We have a rescued pit bull that is great with people, but not so well with other dogs, so we have to wait... I want your dog! :001_tt1: Me and my wife were at a dog show at McCormack Place and saw two HUGE dogs laying on the floor with 3 or 4 little kids romping all over them. The dogs were so good with the kids, so we talked to the breeders. Love at first sight.
Is he a slobberer?

If there is a ball behind the couch that he wants, he just wedges his head behind the couch and twists his neck... the couch ends up on the other side of the room.....
He is great with kids! My last dog was dog agressive also and I couldn't have any other dogs so Tank is great as he loves everyone and everything.. but he does tend to knock things over... I would be careful with a small child. No-one will ever hurt the child, but the dog might sit on him/her by mistake... He really is a clumsy ox.... but he is still a puppy....
Rich, I haven't seen a door to door salesmen in months.... but Tank has gained 20 lbs.... :thumbup1:
He only slobbers when there is food around....

Now that's a big dog!
My wife and I got two pups about a year ago that were 8 weeks old and about 8 pounds a piece. The male (Orion) is now 75 pounds and the female (Abbigail) is now about 60 lbs at the tender age of 14 months. These guys are standard poodles and don't compare to a mastif but are still pretty big guys for their breed. And... yes, we do feed them door to door salespeople who cannot read the "no solicitors" sign.

By the looks of the picture, pink lady Bic's seem to be a staple of his diet! That's classic!

Hey Sue, we just got our first Mastiff (Krypto) as well. He is only 4 months old and 70 pounds! He is growing 5 pounds a week so it will be interesting to see how big he ends up at. Krypto loves everyone, can't get enough of people. Always needs to be by our side. That is the typical Mastiff behavior, loves people and is very docile.

Sue-
Congrats on the new puppy! Here is a picture of me and my Hungarian Vizsla (vee-sch-lah), Sonnenschein. The picture was taken on the day we picked her up at the breeder's house when she was 8 weeks old. Sonni is almost 3 now and I can't imagine a day without her. It's amazing how much love and joy animals can bring into your life.

I am going to want to get a female puppy once he is better trained.. it's funny.. he desn't look too big to me.. I am sure he is around 200 lbs. I must be getting used to him... other dogs all just look small... except for Hercules! :w00t: Damn... where can I find more info on that dog! Wow!
That puppy pic is killing me.. God is he cute...!
here is one more of Tank so you can get a better idea of his size compared to people.... this is my neice..

Sue,
Is this the same dog whom you posted about a couple of months ago when items in your house were being chewed/destroyed? I'm glad to see that he is doing better and that puppy camp seems to have drilled some sense into the big lug!

Krypto has already taken over my couch, my wife wants to let him sleep in the bed but I will not allow that to happen. Once he gets the size of Tank or the others seen above, I will be on the floor while he is sleeping in my bed!

Nice dog Sue. BTW, I have a poodle I can sell you cheap. Normally they're $1600.00. For you, I'll let it go for $1599.99  Oh, and do you know how to trim a hoof? :biggrin1:

I've had the priveledge of meeting Tank a couple months ago. The pictures do not do him justice. He is one HUGE dog, and he's even nicer than he is big. You must be proud, Sue. :tank:

Tank sleeps on my bed... but I have a king sized bed and his paws can hang over one end and his tail, if out straight, will go all the way to the other end of the bed... when he decides to sleep sideways we have a problem... I figure it is easier to wash the sheets then clean the couch.. so the bed is the only furniture he is allowed on. If I ever start dating again I will be in trouble..
Nardi..... I am IN LOVE with Kryto!!! Tank is still 'growing up' now tho... and 2 of these monsters in the puppy stage woud be overload.... they are a lot of work! They are also worth it... :001_tt1:
Badger Dog... Tank has gained 20 lbs since you saw him....
