Shaving and fever blisters??

Does anyone notice fever blisters on there upper lip from shaving? Could it just another bump that sort of feels like a fever blister coming on?

I get this from time to time but I don't think they are fever blisters. I think it is an ingrown hair right on the lip edge. That is why it hurts more than others, the edges of the lips are very sensitive.

A fever blister is a common Herpes virus. No activity with shaving will cause it or cause it to flare up. What you are seeing is probably ingrowns like has been said already.

I have to disagree with this. From Wikipedia:

I also have to assume that the OP was really referring to cold sores (outside the mouth) rather than fever blisters (inside the mouth).

Yeah it is a the top edge on my lip. It feels like a cold sore that is coming on.

But maybe it's a ingrown hair. What should I do to help prevent ingrown hairs?

I know exactly what you're talking about. I've never had a cold sore in my life, but in the last year or two, I have had a VERY hot, tingly, numb-ish spot appear maybe three times on the top edge of my top lip. It doesn't blister or turn into a sore, it's just a spot/bump the size of a small pea, and it lasts for a few days. It's annoying. When the pain/numb/tingle goes away, it feels a bit like a callous for a couple of days and then all is well again. Doesn't feel anything like an ingrown. At least not any ingrown I've ever had.

I thought it might be a sensitivity to geraniol. Who knows, maybe it is a cold sore that never fully blossoms. But it has never happened to me ever before I started using a products containing geraniol. I guess the next step is to use Arko exclusively for a week or two and see if it happens again. Then I'll use something free of geraniol for awhile and see what happens. I know, it's not really scientific, but you gotta start the process of elimination somewhere.

you should get that checked out by a Dr. hopefully its not the Cooties. You don't wanna spread it to other parts of your face.

Have you tried taking a allergy pill to see if it's an allergy to the soap you are using? If it's an ingrown hair you could buy a face brush which is used for cleansing and use it twice a day to try and get the hair to come through. Just make sure you use it gently as they can cause damage to the complextion.

my father used to get fever blisters on his upper lip every year.he grew a moustache and only had one or two in the 30 yrs since.so i would think there was a correlation.
