I had posted about inheriting some razors from my dad a while ago here: http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=179767

Someone had suggested I display one of the older razors (a battered Gillette single ring copy). Turns out that from talking to my uncles, I found out that it might have been my grandfather's razor.

So, not to seem to self-indulgent, but I thought I'd post a picture.

To complete the look, I added a razor blade holder as well. I know nothing about the holder other than that it was in the bag with all of the razors.

Cheers!

Charles:

That's a beautiful tribute to your Grandfather and a nice addition to your shaving den.

How about adding a sign at the bottom of the shadowbox that says:

"Break glass in case of heavy whiskers." :001_rolle

Thanks for sharing.

There is nothing self indulgent about having and showing respect for family. My only suggestion would be using a lighter color background for the razor IMO it will show it off a bit better I think. Good work :thumbup1:

I agree about the colour. However, a black shadow box looks much better in the room than a lighter-coloured one - and the black shadow box came with a black background. I was thinking of covering it with a white background, but I wanted to get a feel for what it looked like in the room before I altered it.

I displayed my grandfathers razor for a while in my shave den then said screw it and started using it as my everyday shaver :thumbup1: I figured he paid for the thing to keep his face smooth so it can just keep on workin for our family.

I would have used it, but it is in horrible condition. The teeth are bent, the screw in the middle is loose and spins in its housing, and there's some green patina that I cannot get rid of. If you look at my previous post above, you can see a picture of it all disassembled. You will also see two other razors that were my father's (a British Gillette Tech and a Gillette Executive). I just used the tech last night for the first time, and I will be having my inaugural shave with the Executive when the blade's done in the Tech.

If a machine works, I say "use it".
