Boar Brush + Cream

I've been using Omega boar brushes for a little while now, and love 'em. I do believe these things could create lather from a mug of rocks, but must admit I seem to get better lather with soaps than good 'ol Proraso cream. Not a huge deal- I do have a Tweezerman badger and will probably buy a silvertip someday- but I was just wondering if anyone had any tips.

Don't know why really, but I just really dig the boar brushes.:tongue_sm

Can't understand why you're not having good luck the boar and Proraso. I've never used Proraso but lots of other creams and my boars do just fine. I usually get the brush wet in a cup of water and then grab it and shake it out pretty well and squeeze on a dab of cream, then go for it. Does me just fine, some creams call for more than I first thought but it's learn as you go. I'd say keep trying. I face lather btw. Enjoy!

Switched to creams over a month ago.
Also started using a boar brush for face lathering.

The results have been richer lather and more of it compared to soaps.
Just put an almond size amount on a wet boar brush and lather.

What is your lather doing? I would say that you are using either too much or not enough water. Hard to say not knowing though. I have a boar and use Bigelow with it and it works just fine. It is not an omega, it is a cheap, cheap, cheap boar brush.

A good boar brush works fine with shave cream, lather turns out a little denser as I think the boar does not whip in as much air as a badger.

I find that cream tends to form lather a little deeper in my Omega 80257 (which I love). Could be because the knot isn't real dense in the center. Once you have some lather give the brush a squeeze---often a nice cloud of lather comes to the surface.

And sometimes it helps to put a little more cream on the brush...:biggrin1:

That has been the biggest plus for me using a boar brush.

The lather is so much denser.
