Have a new friend that shaves his head every couple of days. I would like to get him set up with an outfit for Christmas.

What would you guys recommend, razor, blades, brush and soap?
I have some vintage Gilettes.

What are you guys typically using and how often do you head shave?

TIA,
Gary

Wet shaving since Feb and not looking back.

I have head shaved since the 80s. have done with a se before for a spell.

started back to de, and I really like something with a long handle that I can dial back if necessary...ie adjustable vision or my 23c. I really like the vision because it has a 'channel' underneath the blade to help clean the hair out in-between passes.

For me, the #1 trick to headshaving is a razor that does not plug with hair.

Usually head shave every third day. Use whatever blade is in there and toss it after.

I like both cremes and soaps, soaps with shorter growth, creme when it gets longer.

I do not head shave.

Some use a DE, others a straight, and some use a thing called headblade.

I just started head shavinging, my DE is great for my face and it is a struggle for my brain bucket since there is not a lot of give. I hated to do it, but headblade just worked much better for the head. It is the right tool for the job!

Still use my badger brush and soap and lather like it was my face, so those tools still apply for me. Good luck

I am a longtime faithful Headblade user. I highly recommend it! For that matter, if he's a headshaver, he may already have one but if not you can get them at Walmart or most of the chain drug stores. Or, PM me and I'll give you a coupon code that you can use that has no expiration and gets you 20% off ANYTHING you order from their website.

This is a tough one. What is he using now, and is he happy with the results? For most guys using a DE, SE or injector takes quite a bit longer to shave the noggin with than a cartridge or disposable. If he's not used to using vintage razors with single blades there's going to be quite a learning curve. Does he have the time and inclination to learn how to use one of these types?

I shave my head every single day, sometimes twice a day, and have used all of the vintage types of razors on my head and quite frankly, I don't want to invest that much time in the process. I do for my face but the head shave is just a chore to get over with as quickly and efficiently as possible. My favorite is the Personna Magnum M5, but I get good results from the Mach 3, Trac II and the Wilkinson Tech 3.

You know, I am very curious about all these headblade posts and using carts to shave heads.

I used a fusion car for the better part of the past 5 years, and used some m3 before that.

Shaving my head with ANY cart took longer because the cart clogged and could not be cleaned out. It was so much quicker that my wife even commented how much faster it was. I could make one pass and cut all the hair vs one pull and only get about half the hair with a cart.

About 2 months of doing this and have only had one small weeper that alum took care of.

Speaking of...I might just hit a proraso/aqua headshave tonight.
