Well yesterday actually:biggrin1: I had a smallish cigar about 36-38 ring gauge or so that my mother rolled for me on her last trip to Puerto Rico. Think a corona but just a bit thicker. Sweet finish as many Puerto Rican cigars seem to. I've had better, but not as much fun!

Started off with an Illusion Nosotros...it was alright, but the draw was way too tight. I'll have to revisit it another time.

Later on I went for a CAO Cameroon L'anniversaire...Can't remember what the size was called, but it was big and box-pressed into more of a triangle shape. According to one of the other guys this was from a shipment that was actually lost in the warehouse and aged something like ten years and then found later on. Not a bad cigar, but it is quite light, great draw though.

Ah the Punch Rothschild. These will always have a special place in my heart. I started smoking cigars sometime after my 18th birthday, and this was my first non-machine made cigar. I made it halfway through before I was on my hands and knees dry heaving in the grass. :001_wub:

The first one I had I thought to myself, all that money and it tastes off; this one sure did make up for it. If you can get them at a descent price and have a good feeling about the shipping (keep in mind the Chicago blood bath), I would say go for it, definitely worth the money.

It wasn't; my B&M just got 14 more boxes in various sizes yesterday though, so I picked up a Shark and am gonna let it sit for a little while and enjoy it. Really excited to try it out since I hear it is a major favorite shape of the Anejo line.

I was recently in St. Maarten and picked up a bundle of local-made coronas (Don G Cigar Place in Marigot (French capital) on Rue de Republique). At $4/stick (these are the house brand & not Cubans), I figured I didn't have much to loose, but also didn't expect much. I did at least buy a test single before buying the bundle.

In any case, a nice mild smoke, good draw with a tolerable room note and a nice kick of flavor/spicy toward the last half or so of the cigar.

I should note that the proprietor doesn't speak a lot of English (He's French) and the staff seems to speak even less. However, he was helpful and I had a good experience at his very tiny shop where, you can also see some of the cigar making tools in use. Other brands are also available, but the selection appeared to be rather limited.

I might also note that these cigars are bandless and wrapped in cellophane, but also appear to be handmade.

This Friday, Feb. 4 is the only day I already have one of my smokes already planned. It's the 1 year anniversary of the passing of a great man, Colonel Al Baker, United States Army Retired. We'll all be gathering at the shop he started over 13 year ago and smoking one of his all time favorite cigars, the R&J 125th Anniversary double band, one of the all time great cigars, not available in about 10 years; it should just be hitting its prime. Maybe I'll take 2 of my last 4 or 5 of them. Now all I have to do is figure out where in my humidor it is.

If you're asking for recommendations:

Vintage 1990
Olde World Reserve (corojo)
Decade

The Decades are a bit pricier (but soooo worth it). The Edge missile would be a good substitute, or the Olde World Reserve maduro.

And you, my friend, are a lucky man. That cigar shop sounds like a great place to do business with. The RP humidor is actually pretty nice. It's got a modern, brushed nickel look to it.

:tongue_sm You have no idea. It might be the best little mom and pop (well mom, pop died a year ago). They keep finding boxes of stuff in the back room that has been lost forever. At a recent R&J promo they found a box of 007s (as in Bond, James Bond) from 2002 that are the same blend as the absolutely fantastic 125th Anniversary double band; just short of 100 sticks. The reps' eyes went wild when he saw them and tried to buy them all; he hadn't seen any of them in at least 5 years, and bought 30+ for himself and said he'd buy any the weren't sold at the promo (as if:laugh:). He paid full price for them.

At the CAO promo in October, they dug up 4 boxes of Extreme Maduro lanceros; they were "Gone in 60 seconds" (2 minutes actually). The rep got a box for himself and I got one for me...mmmm good. At least 7-8 years old. I just found 7 boxes (10 count) of the 10th aniversary maduro in the back, from 4-5 years or so ago, I think; I forget the shape name but they're a perfecto; bought 1 box Friday and another yesterday; I'm threatening all the regulars with scarfing them up.

The Rocky Vintage 1990, OWR (in maduro) and Decade are three I am seriously considering.

Wow. Awesome. That CAO 10th Anniversary was quite a cigar. I bought a couple boxes when they came out, long since up in smoke. I do still have 3 or 4 of the 70th "Anniversary", another limited run they put out for Cano's 70th birthday, I think around 2002. It's quite a bit milder (especially after all this time), but it's suuuuuper smoth.

I was luck enough to have 3 of them left (I think there are actually 2 more that I put in another spot in the humi. I'll come across them some day.

Before that was a Gurkha Dragon Fire. The guys at the shop bought about 20 of them and the beautiful solid black box they came in for me when I retired in June '09 They age sooooo well. Came in a Don Pepin sampler pack and is my least favorite of the sampler. Also, had a Man 'O War Ruination. Another good smoke, but not great. While I like most of the AJ Fernadez blends (Ave Maria, Man 'O War, Diesel, La Hernecia Cubana, etc.)... I seem to be a bit baffled by the glowing reviews they receive on many of the cigar forums that make them sound like the best thing ever. I've found plenty of cigars in the same price range I enjoy a bit more.

I've only been smoking cigars for about a month, but I've been smoking cigarettes for the past six years. I did notice a bit more of a nicotine buzz than usual, but nothing overpowering. This is the first 601 that I have smoked so I can't comment on any differences.

Last night SWMBO and I had CAO Flavours. Cherrybomb for her and Eileen's Dream for me in honor of St. Patrick's Day.

First, I hate how much I am into cigars lately. How the heck did I slip back into a tobacco addiction!

But today, PG Symphony 20 Robusto. A ridiculously good, full-bodied smoke. Well-aged. Not all that expensive but far from cheap. Complex, strong, but not overpowering. Tastes like "class" to me. Some mild problems with an uneven burn, I have to admit. Except for minor burn issues, I am not sure how much more there is to ask for in a cigar!

Who males that and was it good?

I have no idea who makes it. I am brand new to the cigar addiction. I have smoked a few but am just starting to try to go about this in an organized manner to see what I like. This was seemed alright but I was not overly impressed. Looking them up online shows they seem to focus more on cigarillos (whatever that means).

Last night's cigar was an Oliva O in a robusto size. It had been a while since I pulled one of these out of the humidor. Thoroughly enjoyed it and need to remember not to let this one sink so far down in my rotation just because it is a "value stick".

Diesel Unholy Cocktail

About 6 months age in the humidor. Another cigar that I used to smoke a lot that hasn't seen much time in my current rotation. Mighty tasty with a little age on it. Mellowed out some of the harshness that they seemed to have right off the truck.

San Cristobal Clasico (robusto) with a glass of Cabernet. Very nice cigar, my first from San Cristobal. A little bit of an uneven burn that required 2 corrections, but very good flavor that would certainly bring me back for another.
On a side note, I love cigar band art and this was easily one of the most gorgeous bands I have seen! :001_cool:

San Cristobal Clasico (robusto) with a glass of Cabernet. Very nice cigar, my first from San Cristobal.

I absolutely love that cigar. The collaboration between Ashton and Don 'Pepin' Garcia is producing some wonderful smokes. Which brings me to my smoke of the day (another Ashton/Pepin collaboration): La Aroma de Cuba Edicion Especiale in a lancero size. This cigar shines in the lancero size. I really wish you could buy these normally. They only come in a special lancero commemorative set with 5 LAdC EEs and 5 San Cristobals which makes them cost a bit more than I believe they would if they were normally produced in this size.

Don Pepin Garcia Cuban Classic robusto. Love the flavor of these. Made the mistake of smoking it on an empty stomach, however. Bit of a nicotine bomb these are... had a nicotine buzz and accompanying sweat towards the nub.
