For the month of December, we have several new products, updates, and a sale taking place.

We are offering three new scents this month: Almond, Basilica, and Vetiver. All three are scented with only essential oils.

We have four new bath & body soaps: Exotic Teakwood, Cinnamon Vanilla, Frankincense and Myrrh, and Christmas Mistletoe. All of them are excellent scents. Frankincense and Myrrh contains shea butter and tallow. Christmas Mistletoe is a complex blend of six different essential oils. We also have a new soap dish.

We encourage everyone to have a look at our New Products page (http://queencharlottesoaps.com/index.php?main_page=products_new&zenid=563b1bea05d39db4563487aa76bd99b8).

We will also be holding a Christmas sale starting Monday, December 6 and ending Tuesday, December 21. The sale is for EVERYONE, American and international customers alike. Here are the details of the sale:

All orders will receive 15% off. Use the code "christmas2010" (without the quotation marks).
Anyone who orders our four soaps for $15 deal (http://queencharlottesoaps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1&products_id=52), will receive a free soap sudser (http://queencharlottesoaps.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=3&products_id=41) (limit one per customer).
All orders of $30 or more (excluding shipping) will receive either two shaving cream soap samples or a bar of soap. Please include your choice in the order comments. If you have no preference, leave the order comments blank, and we will surprise you!
All orders of $50 or more (excluding shipping) will receive free shipping if you live in the continental US, Alaska, Hawaii, or Canada. If you live anywhere else, you will receive 50% off your shipping. Shipping charges will be refunded once the order ships.

We will combine all of the above offers. Our products make excellent gifts. The soap bars make excellent stocking stuffers. Have a SWMBO who is mad about all the shaving stuff you have been ordering lately? No problem, our soaps also make great gifts for SWMBO!

Matthew... I'm new to vetiver, but have been wanting to try it as it seems to be popular.

Do you offer a sample for purchase for people like me, who aren't familiar with the fragrance?

Really pushing the Vetiver aren't you? :tongue_sm

Seriously, congrats on the expanded offerings - I can't speak to the rest, but the shaving cream/soaps are great performers.

Thank you for the nice words (everyone, actually). Basilica is not a seasonal scent. I could not find any other frankincense & myrrh shaving cream, so I figured I would fill the gap. Honestly, I cannot understand why the scent is not more widely available. It is very masculine and nice.

Mama Bear made a Frankincense and Myrhh fragrance-oil scented soap last year. Now she has a Frankincense EO and a Myrhh EO soap listed for sale, but the F&M soap is no longer available. I have the original FO F&M soap she offered, and even with the FO it is really a great scent. I agree that there should be more soaps/creams available in this very nice scent. :thumbup1:

I actually have 7 of your other soaps right now I got during the last sale and love them all. That said, my birthday present to myself next week is going to be to pick up some of the basilica most likely and a few other bath soaps for stocking stuffers. I just did a test lather and to my nose the lather and the soap in the tub both seem very frankincensey. I think it's just me but I can pick up on frankincense easier than myrrh, it's very good. Also my nose is a little shot right now (just lit the grill and earlier I sniffed all the Colonial Drug samples out of the vials, tomorrow a couple on skin) The real stunner for me is the Vetiver though, the scent is very deep, I think I'm going to save that for my Monday two day growth shave.

Get yourself some coffee beans. If you sniff them in between scents, the scents do not mix. It resets your scent ability, like water resets your palate. It is really helpful when smelling many different scents

Just to give you guys an update, I received my shave creams today and I ordered them on Monday!! I instantly opened them up and test lathered the Briar. I love this scent and the lather is some of the best I have ever had the pleasure of whipping up. I barely even got any cream on the tips of my Tweezerman and I got enough lather for 3 passes. I don't understand people talking about how this stuff is hard to lather. Just start with a squeezed out brush and whip it up, then add water very slowly. Also, they threw in a free bar of soap (cedar and lemongrass).:w00t: Thanks again Matthew and everyone at QCS. Hopefully I'll have enough until the next sale!

One thing to note... the lathering technique is a little different than other creams in that you should load the brush when it is almost dry... soak the brush and then squeeze out most of the water. Load the brush, then add water to make lather. You'll be rewarded with very slick, fluffy, super protective lathery goodness.

Excellent service, fast shipping, well packed, generous goodies - in a word: marvelous!

Intriguing scents! Your basilica is not like any soap I have experienced before. Now that I have smelled it, I do fully understand the name reference to old cathedral type of buildings. The Vetiver is dark, woodsy, earthy indeed. Very nice. Nice additions to your hard to beat Lavender.

As for the shaving properties, it seems they are even better than before!
Did you make any modifications? Especially the Basilica has a real smooth yet firm substance, and provided excellent results even at the first try.

Gentlemen, thank you for your nice words and orders. As a reminder, our sale continues until the 21st.

Wim, yes the shaving cream soap has been modified. The tubs are now filled with an extra ounce of shaving cream soap, which has a new formulation that includes aloe vera extract and makes the shaving cream soap more dense, all of which equals a superior product. I am happy you like it.

I just had my first shave with Vostock. AMAZING!!!! The first lathering has a cold face feel, the peppermint and menthol combination made my eyes water (in a good way!!). Lathering up for the second pass was like rubbing snow over my face, colder than should be allowed, and my eyes quit watering. The third pass, was WOW cold! Like a shot of liquid nitrogen to the face! SWMBO said she could smell the peppermint when I walked into the room, and said my face actually felt cool to the touch. I love this stuff! Now, if you offered an aftershave to match it, I'd be in heaven! Thanks, and another order coming your way!

Jared, we are currently working on a shampoo bar, however, strictly speaking, you could also use any of our bath and body soaps as a shampoo bar. Several of our customers do this already. Generally, the only difference between quality soap and shampoo bars is that the shampoo bars contain more oils that are good for your scalp.

This page (http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Shampoo_bar) would be a good source for more information.

I hope that helps :001_smile

Well, I've now shaved with Basilica and Celestial Woods...the verdict:

1. Best artisan brand cream or soap I've ever used...bar none.
2. The scents hang with the best of the three Ts, i.e., grafton, st. james, etc.
3. The shaves are awesome, again second to none. UNLIKE the three Ts, these creams produce zero irritation on my skin...probably because they do not contain fragrance oils or lanolin. This is a HUGE win for my stupid over-sensitive skin.
4. My only ding against it is that it does take a while to whip up a good lather. Probably because these are all natural creams and don't contain "foamers" (my non-technical term)

I LOVE these creams!!!!!

Key Lime- Smells just like fresh limes; not used to a non-artificial scent in products.
Cedarwood/Lemongrass- Mostly lemongrass
Lavendar- pure, clean, soft lavendar. Can't wait for this!
Celestial Woods- Pine and clay. Should be interesting!
Vostok- the main reason I got interested in QCS. Smells like Peppermint bark. Can't wait to freeze my face off.

Thanks for the bar sample, Matthew! Eucalyptus and peppermint is my favorite "flavor" of bath soaps.

enjoy them. I have yet to try the cedarwood lemongrass but all the others I love. I whipped up some williams today to give it another try and it got dumped down the sink after 2 swypes accross my face and I quickly whipped up some basilica.

The vostok is going to be lathered as soon as my new handle+TGN finest knot get here. I haven't shaved in a couple of days and feel all scruffy.

Basilica, Vetiver, even Vostok...these are impressive scents. QED was my goto for serious, real-deal EO soaps, but these creams/soaps are the genuine article. I am REALLY enjoying these samples.

I am in search of a complimentary cologne to go along Celestial Woods. Suggestions would be greatly appreciated as my knowledge of different cologne offerings is limited.

Thanks!

I am not a cologne expert, so my knowledge of colognes is probably less than yours. Celestial Woods has a distinctive pine note, so that may be what you are looking for. Another gentleman on this forum, Markb (http://www.badgerandblade.com/vb/member.php?u=13226), uses Celestial Woods. You could send him a PM seeing if he has found a matching cologne.

Sorry, I wish I could be of more help:blush:

That has pine, sandalwood, and cedar. Vetiver too??

I'd go with any of these:
Crabtree & Evelyn Sandalwood EDT
Guerlain Vetiver (vetiver & cedar) my favorite
Truefitt & Hill Trafalgar (light organge, fades to smoky vetiver & cedar with cloves)
GFTrumpers - GFT (signature) (cedar & citrus w/vetiver)
Hermes - Terre D'Hermes (burnt orange top, gradually fades to vetiver-ish)
L'Occitaine - L'Occitan (smells like rain) OR Eaux de Baux (incense) OR Vetyver (grassy vetiver)

YMMV. Try samples or spritzes at the stores before purchase.

I asked if vetiver EO is in there but was told no - I do pick up some earthy undertones in it for sure. Very light pine in mine. No complaints at all with the scent!

Thanks for the suggestions.

The aforementioned suggestions are all excellent, however, I have found the following two to work best for me:

Grigeo La Perla cologne (pine, fern, all kinds of barbershop goodness)
German Pitralon aftershave (definite pine with woods and strong enough scent to double as a cologne...plus what an aftershave!)

I purchased another 4 QCS shave cream soaps:

Key Lime
Basilica
Celestial Woods
Briar.

I then let one of my converting wetshavers choose which 2 he liked;( well, since I already had Key Lime form another purchase, he only got to choose 1 out of 3) and he decided on Basilica. I asked him how did he like it and he said after shaving w/ it one night and then going to bed, SWMBO turned to him and gave him that 'special look'.:lol::thumbup1::thumbup:

I just shaved with Briar and the cherry pipe tobacco smell comes through nicely- now I just have to find an A/S to pair w/ it. Matt has really done a fine job w/ his products. It's a good thing these weren't around when I first started shaving-I might not own shave soaps or sticks or creams.....

I used to believe that the easiest shave was with a shave stick, any brush, and an injector. I believe I will have to revise that to any QCS shave cream soap. You really cannot go wrong with it.
