Hi all. I found this bowl in a thrift shop a couple of weeks ago. As you can see by the pic, someone had painted it with house paint (badly). I've stripped off the paint, and given it a refinish.
Can anyone tell me what soap this may have come with? Company etc. The bottom has "Made in England" stamped into the wood.
Thanks.

I don't know anything about it but I must say you did a nice job refurbishing it! Beautiful bowl!
Did you sand the old paint off? How did you get the shiny surface?

Looks like a Yardley bowl to me. :thumbup1:

The paint was a latex house paint, so I used a rather strong solution of water with TSP to remove most of the paint. Then a bit of sanding, and sprayed with a clear lacquer.

Thanks M.L.
Sure looks like this one alright. For just a bowl is there any value to my find?

I see them in vintage stores for around $8 and in the flea markets for $5. I have these two:

These cause certain folks to start vibrating.
