is there a difference in the Rooney brushes that Vintage Blades and Classic Shaving sells? Some of the measurements seem to vary.

These brushes are hand made and there is going to be variance between any two brushes in a given batch. Plus the newer brushes seem to be slightly different than the older ones, no top of the variance between two hand made brushes. Add to that the fact that Rooney has no official web page, and as far as I can tell no official literature there would appear to be no official standard.

Basically all of this leaves VB and CS to measure samples by hand. Depending on measuring method potentially more variance creeps into the numbers. For example if one measures with a ruler and the other with a caliper.

If that was not enough to justify the discrepancy Rooney is undergoing some management changes that could potential shake things up even more. Potential changes are only speculation, so dont take that to heart. However the recent shake up in the Heritage line, along with the funky new colored super and T&H funky color best line would indicate more changes to come.

The question was long ago answered by Jim from Vintageblades ...

Just as an FYI. There only two difference between the Rooney brushes being sent to Classic Shaving and the ones being sent to Vintage Blades:

1. Those being sent to Classic Shaving go to California and lean slightly to the left.
2. Those being sent to Vintage Blades go to Maryland and lean slightly to the right.

Other than that, the brushes are identical in every regard and are made to exactly the same specifications, which are shown on the Vintage Blades website. Those specification are those that are currently being used by all brush makers at the Rooney factory for all brushes made with the R.A. Rooney logo.

The disparity noted is due only to the fact that a change was made in the brush loft specifications on some brushes about 18 months ago and these change were noted on some sites and not others. Also remember that the posted specification are only an average, particularly when it comes to loft. These are hand made brushes. Some variation should be expected.

I also noted slight measurement variations on different sites when shopping for a Simpson brush lately.

Lee Sabini is stepping back from his management role. I dont have a whole lot of details other than there is "new management" That could mean anything from the second in charge stepping up to a whole new team.
