View Full Version : ItalianBarber.com November update: P.160, RazoRock Shave Cream, Feather All Stainless

RazoRock

1kg bricks of the legendary Italian barbershop classic P.160 Tipo Morbido are now in-stock and ready to ship; this is the last stock from the factory in Bologna; P.160 is now officially discontinued...

http://www.italianbarber.com/p10-P160-1kg-Shave-Cream-Tipo-Morbido.html

Last Tuesday, we also launched our new RazoRock Shave Cream, $4.99 for 150ml tub! Made in the same factory that previously made P.160...

http://www.italianbarber.com/p21-RazoRock-Shave-Cream-150ml.html

On Friday, we received our November order from FEATHER of Japan. We had originally ordered 24 of the Feather All Stainless Razors but demand for this product is very high and we were only able to get the last 8 units. We are told they may not have more supply until late December or early January so if you are thinking about one of these for a Christmas gift you may want to act soon...

http://www.italianbarber.com/p24-Feather-Stainless-Steel-Double-Edge-Razor.html

Also from Feather, all the RG and DX straights are now in-stock and ready to ship. We got back-ordered on the DX Teak wood handle and only received 2 units and now we only have 1 unit left.

http://www.italianbarber.com/ShavingStraight-Razors-c1_3.html

I think you will find the prices of our Feather Artist Club razors and Artist Club blades to be the very best anywhere!

http://www.italianbarber.com/ShavingRazor-Blades-c1_9.html

Coming in mid-to-late November...

We have a massive order coming from Italy with dozens of different products including Cella, Floid, Valobra, Prep, Proraso, Omega brushes, Marvis and lots of other brands. Just wait until you see our pricing on these products!

Remember, all orders over $60 quality for FREE SHIPPING!

Thanks,

Joseph

I've been using the new RazoRock Shave Cream for the last week or so and Wow...I am very impressed! Great latherability, nice and slippery, lots of protection, and moisturizing too. Sweet almond scent smells great. Great product for the price for sure! Highly recommended! Keep up the great work! :001_smile

The ingredients list looks good on the new shaving cream. Price is amazing. I don't really need a cream right now, but even so I'm thinking pretty hard about it.

Thanks for the nice words. We'll be here whenever you decide, no need to rush. We call it a cream but it's actually more of a soft soap; we had a hard time deciding whether to call it a cream or a soap.

A couple B&B members last week emailed and said... "Joe, Why are your Feather prices so incredibly low, EXCEPT FOR the Yellow Pack Feather DE blades!?"

So here is what I did...

We put the 200 blade pack of Feathers on a mega-sale, $64.99! And... keep in mind that every order in Canada & USA over $60 qualifies for FREE SHIPPING! That means you are paying $32.50 per 100 blades, shipping included. I hope this makes me more competitive on these blades.http://www.italianbarber.com/p40-200-Feather-New-Hi-Stainless-DE-Blade20-Packs-of-10%28200-Blades%29.html

We have also added a few more brands of blades at great prices...

100 Astra green pack platinums blades for $14.99!
http://www.italianbarber.com/p30-100-Astra-Superior-Platinum-DE-Blade-20-packs-of-5-%28100-blades%29.html

100 Lord Platinum blades for $12.99!
http://www.italianbarber.com/p33-100-Lord-Platinum-DE-Blade-20-packs-of-5-%28100-blades%29.html

200 Lord Super Stainless blades for $19.99!
http://www.italianbarber.com/p38-200-Lord-Super-Stainless-DE-Blade-20-packs-of-10-%28200-blades%29.html

If you check out my site and for some reason you don't like my pricing, feel free to email me and we can argue about it, chances are you will win.:001_smile

We only have a few Feather All Stainless razors left. We are still $159.99 on them; remember, these have already started to go up to $180-200 at other stores; these will be the last of them at this price.

As always, we really appreciate your support of our small business.

-Joseph

I just took receipt of 4kg of P.160 Morbido. I would hope that this will last me the rest of my life. The soap was packaged very nicely. Delivery was a tad on the slow side, but I blame Canadian post for that one. I would definitely do business again with Joseph.

Get it while he has them :)

Hi Kellicat,

Yes, production has seized. (Grazie a Marco for the finding the link:thumbup1:).

Since they produce our RazoRock Shave Cream, we have a great relationship with them, and we begged them to keep producing it, even if just for us, but it seems the decision was already made. There were very kind to allow us to buy all the remaining stock in the factory.

All hope is not lost, because I will keep hounding them to re-open the line; even if it means buying a container load:001_smile

My package from Joseph arrived yesterday with Razorock and Razorock cream. Slight mix-up that he rectified in minutes via e-mail. Excellent customer service! Thanks Joe.:thumbup1: I used the cream this am and it is outstanding imho. Shaves very similarly to using a tallow Italian soap. Small amount exploded with great lather and my water is quite hard. Thanks for a great product at a great price with customer service to match. :thumbup:Regards, Bradley

Got my package from italianbarber.com one week after placing order.
My 2 kilos of P.160 cleared Canadian customs for delivery to the east coast USA with no problems.
The only complaint is that the parcel was shipped to my home address rather than my office as I directed in placing my order. Fortunately SWMBO was late coming home and I got there first to avert a minor crisis :blushing:
So as far as shaving soap is concerned, I'm just about set for life. LOL! :thumbup1:

I just got my 1kg of P.160 yesterday. Great service, only took 5 days to get to my door, not bad at all considering it had to cross the boarder. Shaved with it today… This is my favorite shaving soap so far… I can’t believe they discontinued it… I may have to order some more.

Ordered mine a few days ago in a bit of a panic. Never used p.160 but like Cella a lot. I've been reading all the good reviews and thought this might be my last chance. I hope I like it. If it lasts anywhere near as long as Cella, I've got enought for the rest of my life.

Hi guys, as per my original post above I have a tub of RazoRock Shave Cream which I am really liking a lot. I usually use the 3 T's (and have for about 6 years) but I like the RazoRock so much I am now wondering if I should try out p160 and Cella as well. Is RazoRock close enough to the others in performance, etc that I don't need to wonder what I'm missing or are p160 and Cella significantly different enough that I need to place an order for those as well? I'm kinda on the fence as I have a couple years worth of various creams and soaps as it is. Thanks!:001_smile

Because I'd be answering from a "biased position", I'm going to defer the response to the other B&B members.:001_smile

It's great to hear some of you guys are enjoying the RazoRock shave cream; our intention was to offer a high quality product at a price-point that was affordable for everybody. The one problem I've run into is people calling me up and saying... "Be honest with me Joe, for $4.99, it can't be that good?" Sometimes, when you price something high people assume it's great and when you price something too low they assume the opposite. I have no retail-experience so I'm still learning the psychological aspects of pricing.

Bordeaaj: I too have some of the cream and find it to be very close in performance and scent to the p160. It is not a tallow based product, and some will say that makes all the difference. Imho, it is hard to beat the RR cream for value/performance ratio, tallow or not. It is a fantastic cream that impresses me each time it is used. My water is very hard and lather is much easier with the cream, as compared to Cella or p160. Hope this helps. Regards, Bradley

I think you are correctly summing up my previous assumption that you only get what you pay for, in most cases. This is definitely one of the exceptions to that rule. RazoRock Cream compares very well with all my favorites, ie. Trumpers, Taylors, MWF, etc, etc and that surprised the hell out me. I love that you went with the price you did and the reasons you did it. :001_smile

My experience with RazoRock Cream has been fantastic as well. Sounds like I may not need to try the others...I'm not a tallow fanatic though I do have and enjoy several tallow-based creams and soaps.

If they can offer fair wholesale pricing and we can in-turn offer our customers great pricing, we will definitely be stocking them. Shipping "one-off" is always a challenge from Italy so we are hoping to group the Bolzano blades with our Italian ocean freight shipments.

An Update:

First the bad news...

My stock of P.160 got decimated over the last 3 weeks. I had a lot of bricks and I was hoping this stock would last 6-12 months but I guess my estimations were way way off. Judging by the way it's selling, I could be out of stock in the next week or two. I never imagined individuals would be ordering 4 and 5 kg at a time:ohmy:

The good news...

My partner is in Italy and we might have a line on more P.160 from a Barber supply company. There is no guarantees and it will cost us substantially more but my fingers are crossed.

Also, I believe we have successfully tracked down the Bolzano blades. If everything works out, we may have these blades for sale in the next few weeks. A lot of your guys have been emailing about these blades so we put our best foot forward.

Our Italy shipment got delayed a day and is scheduled to arrive tomorrow. Hopefully, you could see some new product on the website later this week.

That's all for now, thanks for the on-going support and the kind emails,

Joseph

Joseph;

Jumped onto your site, and was going to buy a kilo of P.160 until the shipping charge to Australia hit $110.00 on top of the $40 product.

Does not seem to even be in the ballpark. Is this correct?

For comparison, I was quoted around $30 from another vendor, however from Europe.

For Australia, it's quoting Priority pack which is 3-4 day service, hence the high price.

1.2kg package via International Air service (10-14 business days) is $53.61

1.2kg package via International surface/ocean service (4-6 weeks) is $23.26

Thanks for the awesomely quick reply. I really appreciate it (nearly 2am Thursday as I type this).

Unfortunately in this case, it seems the shipping cost component is uneconomic, even at the lower service levels. Quite a shame.

Hopefully I will be able to support your store another time.

I totally agree. The problem is weight, once the package goes over 400 grams, the shipping price jumps up substantially because it's no longer a "small packet".

On shipments of less than 400 grams, the rates are very reasonable. I actually ship quite a lot of Feather razors and blades to Australia and New Zealand.

Cheers,

We put some items up tonight; you'll see a lot more go up tomorrow and Saturday once we get more organized. To answer your question, yes, it's safe to order.:thumbup1:

thanks,

Joseph

How much Floid did you get? I want to order soon before stock runs out but I am going to USA this weekend to buy a 1972 Pontiac and will probably have to max out my credit card for border fees and such.

thanks Joe

We only got a few cases of Floid. Floid is a difficult product because of it's Flashpoint; making it super expensive to ship from Italy. It's classified as dangerous cargo which equals crazy shipping rates. That said, I wanted a few bottle for myself and for my barber so I made it happen. If you want one Andrew, let me know and I'll put it aside for you.

If you wouldn't mind that Joe I would greatly appreciate it! wouldn't be till sometime next week that I would be making an order.

What so special about Floid's? Is it crazy expensive because of the dangerous shipping or because it's magic juice?

Wow, 44 bucks for aftershave. I'll have to put that one back on the shelf.

edit: oh, wait, that's for 400ml? not so bad then. That's a big bottle!

Joseph: Could you give a list of the items that arrived? Not pricing or size, but trying to find out if my order should wait until all items listed. I know you are very busy posting items on your site, and I have a fairly good idea of what is not posted yet, but any surprises? Regards, Bradley

Have you entertained the idea of selling decants of the Floid? A lot of us haven't tried it and, at that price (which we understand is NOT your fault), some of us may be hesitant to spring for a full bottle. We can read reviews all we want but the only way to tell for sure that we like it is to try it.

It's a very big bottle and the presentation is beautiful.

You should see everything up in the next two days. This order really swamped me and I'm getting organized as fast as I can.

Your point is valid; Unfortunately, at this time we aren't decanting Floid for a few different reason, the main one being I'm so behind on other Italianbarber.com work and projects. We may do it in the future and I will definitely keep your suggestion in mind.

Hi Altair,

Most everything is up, I still have some soaps and shampoos to post up but I'm exhausted so I'm leaving those for now. Maybe I'll put those up in a week or two, nothing urgent.

Regarding the prices... this is not my "day job" so my plan is to always offer the best prices I can. I think most of my prices are the lowest on the market, please tell me if you see prices that aren't competitive and I will work on it.

Very impressed with your website and the product mix. Just so I'm clear-are any of the "soaps" you refer to above that aren't on the site yet, shaving soaps? Or are all of your shaving creams/soaps posted? I ask, because I'm about to put my order together and there's a few shaving soaps that I thought I still might see to chose from (Proraso White, Valorba Menthol or stick,).

Either way, to echo the sentiments of others here, thanks for the great website and prices. I'm sure you'll do plenty of business.

Hi Kj,

I would very much love to give free freight to our Australian brothers but with the weight of P.160 and the distance/cost to Australia, it is just not possible.

If you are patient, it's possible to ship slower (4-6 week service) at a reduced price. If you are interested, feel free to email me. I know this probably isn't the answer you wanted to hear but unfortunately my hands are quite tied with the postal service.

One other solution I can offer. I will look for some special plastic containers and I will cut some P.160 into smaller portions. I know I can ship about 250gr to Australia for about $9-10 because I just shipped a razor there today. If this solution is worth while, let me know and I will start thinking up the possibility.

kindest regards,

Joseph

Joe, can you get the white (green tea) Proraso pre-shave in the big 500g jars?

Hi Dry,

The Proraso white is actually a product designed for the North American/export market. It was designed to deal with sensitive skin (which 53% of males report to have in North America). Sensitive skin isn't generally a problem for Italians. In my 6 weeks in Italy during the summer, I didn't see Proraso white sold in even one store, and believe me, I checked in hundreds.

To answer your question, the white (green tea) does not come in the Barber Shop sized format. The 500gr Barber Shop format is only designed for the Italian market and is not packaged for the export market.

kind regards,

Joseph

Ah... I had a feeling that was going to be the case. The white seems to be harder to find for both cream and pre-shave.

Thanks for the reply, though... I appreciate it.

I just received my order. Thanks for the quick shipping and wonderful prices.

I can't wait to try the p160, but I remember reading that some store the unused portion in the frig. Is that necessary? If so, is it fine in the packaging until opened. Is there any special care needed for this soap, since it comes in such a large quantity?
