Sales forum - post editing

Why is it that the first post in a Shaving Mall thread can't be edited after a few days? I came back to one of my sales a few days later to say it had been sold, but there was no edit button, forcing me to post a reply.

Now there's nothing wrong with that, it's just that I'd rather make it easier on people to see on my first post that it is now sold, rather than make them read all posts down to the bottom. Also, a new reply would make the topic appear "unread", and thus jump to the top of the forum when it really doesn't need to.

I was under the impression it was able to be edited. Maybe someone else from the Star Chamber can answer that question.

I believe a post can't be edited after 3 days......but I too could be wrong. We may need to wait for Nick to chime in but I do know there is a time limit on the ability to edit a post.

Yes, there is a time limit on editing posts. It was set to preserve the archives (by preventing members from rewritting/deleting old posts).

Ah, thanks for the explanation. I presume that it's not possible to modify this for only the Mall forum.
