The knot looks good..but incase I want to reknot it which knot comes closest to a Rooney?? Vulfix, TGN, Shavemac or something else??

Very nice set. I've seen a couple of these come up from time to time. If the knot is badger, it might be fine as is, without a restore needed. I'll let the resto experts chime in for advice on knots. My other big question....what's the unused vintage soap?

It is definitely a boar knot.

For the cheapest route a TGN finest extra-stuffed or fan would be the way to go.

Not sure if simpson's will knot a non-simpson's handle, but could be worth a check.

For a shavemac knot you can contact Bernd or Rudy Vey who gets knots from Shavemac from time to time.

The closest thing to a Rooney Finest knot is definitely a shavemac D01 2-band, though I prefer my D01 as it has silkier tips and not as much (none) scritch.

Not sure what the closest thing to a Rooney Super is though, maybe an extra dense Simpson's best, but they are still pretty different.

So, I got the brush and the kit today. Soaked it in shampoo for 30 mins. Rinsed it off and right away set it to task by trying out some of my difficult soaps and creams. The brush attacks soaps and lathers very well but the water retention is average. I manage to get 2 - 3 passes with my best cream (AOS). With a stubborn soap (C&E Sandalwood) it managed to give me only 1.5 passes worth of lather.

It is a unique experience using a brush with a lot of backbone and spring but the brush tips are pointy and hurt the face a little.. I am looking forward to receiving the Simpson Wee Scot..that should give the backbone and yet soft tips.

Looks very nice , the all kit including the box , take care with tha looks very value in special if is rooney
