Does anyone know of any cigar bars in the Washington, DC area? The Bethesda area would actually be ideal. DC's "no smoking" in bars law just took effect this year and I'm wondering if any establishments found a loophole. Thanks

Hey Jordan.

I have been to Shelly's downtown DC and was hoping to visit there again next week when I'm in Virginia on business. Hopefully it's still open!!

HERE'S (http://www.shellysdc.com/index.html) the link. Lovely place, great food.

I was in a Cigar and Martini lounge in DC about 10 years ago, but damned if I can remember which one. I was at a Society for Neuroscience conference, the city was teeming with neuroscientists, and I needed to find a place where they wouldn't be, so a friend and I ended up there. I remember it being a pretty expensive place to enjoy a smoke and a beverage. I also remember there seeming to be many older gentlemen there with their "nieces"

Thanks for the info guys. From what I've found on the cigar sites, many of the previously cigar friendly establishments have had to change their policies due to the no-smoking law. I think if a certain % of their revenue is generated from tobacco sales, they can allow smoking, but most seem to choose not to go this route. What a shame.

I couldn't agree more. I was talking with some Steakhouse bartenders recently and they were mentioning that their business had dropped in the bar as much as 85% due to the anti-smoking laws. It's a shame you can't do what you want into your own business.

Don't know if Kelly's Back Room is still open after the new law, but I heard that was a sweet place to go to. It's on F Street Downtown. You could always hang out at J& R Cigars for some indoor puff puff action. The owner, John, is a pretty nice guy. Sorry that I don't know Maryland too well.
