Hi guys, I've spent the night looking through a ton of old posts and googling Fatboy's trying to see if mine is broke and how to fix it.
The problem it seems to have is a hitch, or sluggish door opening towards the bottom end. If fully locked, as I open the doors its smooth but then it gets stiffer but easily works through it and then is smooth again. I removed both doors and tried each one on each side and the issue seems to follow a specific door. With no door there is no drag and it smoothly sends the mechanism up and down.
When I inspect both doors they look identical.
Any ideas?

It wouldn't take much of a tweak on one of the doors to cause a little bind at the pivot point - probably less than the eye can see.
My first thought as I was reading your post was that the head was a little out-of-square, causing one side to bind. But, as you say, the problem follows the door so the problem must be with the door.
How does it shave? Do both sides shave the same, or is one more aggressive than the other?

I mic'd the door and found the problem.
Under the door's hole that locks into the cross bar there is a little tab. That tab is on all doors. Somehow one tab on one door is rubbing the safety bar. I miced them all and no two are the same so I'm supposing its not a critical thing. I simply referred to the older post about straightening bars and the problem is gone.
Now off to cabella's to buy a tumbler and tumble all these gillette razors I scored off ebay.
Thanks

Tumbling, as in a polisher for rocks = bad.
You want one that just vibrates. Not sure what they're called.

better hit might be an ultrasonic, works to perfection with razors.

Your right, I meant to say vibratory tumbler. Not sure why they call it a "vibratory tumbler" when nothing about it tumbles.
