A very disappointing shave. My last shave with my HD was great, but this one left much to be desired. Maybe I should only do 2 days with my Feathers? Of course, I put too much water in my lather and it was a little thin, so that's probably to blame for the nicks.

Merkur HD
Feather (day 3)
Proraso Omega Boar Brush
Glycerine
QED Fresh Lime Soap
Proraso Shave Cream
Nivea Sensitive Extra Soothing Balm

I nicked myself about 6 times! They were very minor nicks, but I know I'm perfectly capable of shaving without getting a single one.

At least I have something to look forward to today! I should be getting the two Super Speeds I bought from Mike in the mail today - one for me and one for my brother. I'll have give mine a try tonight.

Not to answer for Jim, but I use the Provence Sante Green Tea AS Splash and Green Tea EDT. The after shave is good stuff and the edt is a nice mellow scent. They're pretty inexpensive so worth a shot.

What a bad shave. Did 2 light passes with the dovo, the a touch up here and there. The Orphan soap is fine, but it's pretty much unscented (smells only of soap and clay). The real stupid part was the skin bracer. I found this when rummaging through my dad's old forgotten products and decided to try it. EW, my face smells like a urinal cake. The only redemption for this product is the cooling effect of the menthol.

Very very nice shave...had a day and a half of stubble and it was great to shave in the AM again...I forgot what a great feeling it can leave you with (I have been shaving at night recently). So far the dove sensitive skin lotion I'm using (my wife's) has been great...unscented so it doesn't "get in the way", absorbs quickly, calming as well. Great shave today!

What a sweet razor! Bought "for a song" on eBay, and it polished-up nicely (I suspect that once upon a time it was gold-plated, but I particularly like the contrast between the copper head/handle and the brass guard/ferrule). Nice heft, comfortable to hold and maneuver (this was the one with the malodorous case). Now, a good razor isn't much, without lather, and The Gentleman's Quarter (TGC) Leatherneck provided much more than just "lather" -- it fattened the hairs of my beard like the proverbial calf, while cushioning the razor so it glided along the contours of my face like that "Flexible Flyer" of my youth.

My regular three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG... and I was in BBS ecstasy!

SCS Autumn Rain EdT:thumbup:

The SCS products were absolutely great! The autumn rain is very much like T&H 1805...very "marine" smelling, while still light. Overall a very "clean" scent. The fairway smelled great, too...sort of like the savory rose with a strong grass scent added in there (and I'm sure some other things my untrained nose didn't pick up on). The soap lathered and shaved wonderfully. I find SCS Sue's soaps' lather look a little different from other products, but they are still very rich, completely coating and the slickness is perfect. Way to go, Sue!

At $15, it might seem pricey, but I admit to being captivated by that rich-looking, dark-butterscotch Bakelite handle (some surface cracks, but only superficial). I'm going to have it re-bristled by Blankity-Blanks (http://www.blankity-blanks.com/brushes.htm) (a well-respected shaving brush maker, which I found months ago on the SRP website) -- it appears to take an 18mm knot, which will cost me all of $21.99 for a Premium Grade Silver Tipped Badger Brush Head (plus the cost of their labor, and back-and-forth S/H); I figure a total expenditure of $60, maximum. I'll post "before" and "after" photos in the appropriate forum, when it's done.

I decided to try it out this morning, so after first shampooing it with "Head 'n Shoulders", I did my usual prep, then gently squeezed a button-sized dollop of Proraso Green shaving cream onto it... lathered-up like a dream and, with it's diminutive size, it felt like I was driving a 1960s TR4 all over the "highway of my face". True, I needed to add some more Proraso for the second and third passes, but I attribute that to not having shaken the water out before my initial Proraso application... my bad.

Nice BBS shave, the usual three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG... a couple of nicks, but only needed the styptic pencil for one of 'em.

A great, five-pass citrus shave to start the day! The QED and Proraso worked very well together in my scuttle and provided a rich, lubricating lather that smell great. Part of my love for Speick is that when it dries down the scent of whatever shaving soap or cream I used earlier is still able to come through to please my nose afterwards! The Musgo Real is also really good.

Extremely luxurious shave today. Not just because of the ever fantastic Taylors Rose (and the newly discovered Sienna ASB, hereby known as the greatest invention ever) but also because, for the first time ever, I decided to put together an impromptu Moss Scuttle, just by keeping my shaving bowl in the sink whilst I shaved, sitting in a small amount of steaming hot water. Kept the lather lovely and warm, and definitely helped with the lubrication as I shaved. Felt great

Day 2 using the autumn rain and it still smells fantastic. man does it have staying power, though! This morning before my shower I could still catch faint traces of the scent (24 hours later for just one spray!). This EdT really does smell fantastic, IMHO.

I had been curious about the very v for a while now, and it certainly was everything (and more) I'd hoped it would be...not an overly sweet vetiver but rather a very grassy one...with (to my nose) a nice black pepper note to it. I was glad I had read previous posts about how to lather SCS creams (thus far I had only tried SCS Sue's soaps). Got the lather right 1st time trying by just keepin' on adding water. Very slick, smooth, comfortable shave. I don't know about you guys, but I find the SCS lathers (soaps and cream) just fly off the brush as I lather my face...I wind up with it on my chest, the floor, the walls...what fun!

I tried out my no date code Super Speed last night!

Since my wife won't let me open my birthday presents until my birthday next Monday (I'm getting 100 Feathers), I put a Derby in the Super Speed. I hadn't used anything but IP's and Feathers in my HD and Slim lately, so the Derby was much different.

On the first pass, I felt like the blade was pulling my beard as much as cutting it, but the second pass and the touch up shaving went fine. I ended up with a 9.75/10 BBS. :ladysman:

So here's what I used:

No Date Code Super Speed
Derby blade (day 1)
Glycerine
Proraso Omega Boar Brush
QED Fresh Lime Shave Soap
Proraso Shave Cream

Getting Closer to that BBS str8 shave. Still having issues with the chin and corners of my mouth, but I have tons more techniques to try from here and SRP. Also my stropping is improving daily, the razor is tugging less and I'm getting a real feel for the draw many of you write about.

Also worth noting, I think I've underestimated the value of a good, stiff boar brush. I bought the WS boar brush when I first started on this adventure, then quickly upgraded to a EJ superbadger brush. It wasn't until I purchased a pure badger brush from one of the members here that I realized that stiffer brushes are easier to load with soap and don't take that much longer to lather. The superbadger is still my favorite for creams though.

I shaved around 1730, before going to the gym. I'd spent the day installing the Xubuntu GNU/Linux distribution on a friend's computer, and time flew by.

I recently read a posting here on B&B, in which a member mentioned that when "loading" his brush with shaving soap, he would routinely reverse direction every so often. I tried his suggestion, midway through my regular forty swirls, and it definitely affected the transfer of soap to my brush in a positive way.

And what more can I possibly say about QED's Wild Rose shaving soap? The lather is so rich! My beard got-and-stayed wonderfully moist throughout each pass, and the lather lubricated my face like KY jelly -- talk about "razor porn"!!

Yesterday, JoeKidd (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/member.php?u=1679) posted here on B&B, asking us to share what's Your favorite vintage safety razor... (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=17126) Today, I shaved with mine -- an insanely good experience; and, when I was finished, I took it apart and carefully dried-off each piece, before reassembling it and putting it back into its case.

The usual three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG... and I was in BBS-shave ecstasy! I really need to buy a few bottles of SCS Sue's Savory Rose Eau De Toilette, to complete this rosy shave.

Although I, like many others, regularly use a Schick SE injector razor for touch-ups after shaving with a DE, today, despite the moist and cushioning lather of QED's Anise & Lavender shaving soap, I still managed to nick myself in a few places.

If I had used my "regular Friday razor" (a hefty, gold-plated 1930s Gillette Special), those nasty nicks wouldn't have happened -- it was probably because the Schick SE is so light, and I ended-up applying pressure... live and learn.

However, with the regular three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG, I'm in BBS-shave heaven. Now, off to the gym...

I had an interesting shave, this morning, much different from my normal methods. I was taking a vacation day to help my wife shop for a new car and she was rushing me, a bit.

So, it would be my fifth shave on a US Personna in my Merkur Classic. I had just taken a shower and had thought to moisten my beard with Suave Humectant shampoo followed by the same type conditioner.

For quickness, I decided to go with my C. O. Bigelow's Dr. Galen non-lathering cream (sesame oil is the featured ingredient). After smearing it all over my beard, I gently splashed on some additional hot water. After a with the grain pass, I re-smeared the cream, re-wet my face, and did the second pass against the grain. I was afraid this would be dangerous, but it actually worked very well. Not BBS, but pretty close (pun intended).

Then, I covered my entire face with Noxema cream. But, I decided to clear it off with a warm washcloth. Finally, I applied Nivea Eye Lotion to my eyelids and Proraso Liquid Cream ASB to my face.

It felt great, all day! A very satisfying shave, even without lather.

One of my favorite "regular" shaves -- hardware and software (hat-tip to DoctorSimon!)

Today, though, it was even better... 26 years ago today (date-wise), my second wife (Yael) and I were married... the mother of my two wonderful daughters (Shira and Rina); never mind that we've been divorced for 14 years -- what's important are our children and the relationship which we've succeeded in building after the marriage was over, and the girls are living proof of our hard work. As it says in Psalms: "הזרעים בדמע ברנה יקצרו" ("One who sows with tears, reaps with joy").

The usual three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG... and I'm in BBS-shave heaven!

Note: The photo is from 2003, on the occasion of Shira's promotion to 1st LT in the IDF; it's the last one I've got of the three of them together.

Got a '71 Gillette Adjustable in a trade... for me, performs just like my '66 Slim Adjustable (3/5/7 for 3 passes). But I like the black handle better. ;)

Still can't get used to how much my B&B finest repels water. Rinse it off and give it a single shake, and it immediately blooms to full area, looking as dry as if it was sitting out for a week. Really strange.

I recently bought this "previously-owned" shaving brush on eBay; not bad, and it holds lather 'n wetness for three passes, but it should be re-bristled. What I like, in particular, are the comfortable handle and the control I get with the smaller head.

The usual three passes: WTG, ATG, and XTG... and I'm in BBS-shave heaven!

Now, off to the gym...

PS: Does anyone know what the "A.S" might stand for? I've pretty-much figured-out that the "4" is a model number

Much Better today with the EJ today. I think the blade did not seat right yesterday it went together smoother today and Shaved very well. to me it leans on the aggressive side which is probally due to the weight and length this is one heavy razor I no longer own a Vision but if memory serves me right this is heavier. Id be curious if someone has a vision and a postal scale post the weight and I will weigh the EJ. This is one new razor that is probally going to stay on the rack with the Vintage, Good Shaver and very Pretty. This will not be a trend though:biggrin1:
