No pictures, just a filet and lobster tail at Vic Stewart's... Arguably one of the best steakhouses in California, and even perhaps the US. Accompanied by a bottle of 2002 BV de La Tour Private reserve. It's surprising how many places don't clarify their butter when serving lobster. Vic's does... The lobster was like dipping sweet butter in clarified butter.

Love the cigar pictures.

I had a tasty Pete's Wicked Ale and a Royal Jamaica Gold corona. Just wonderful together.

Nick - the meal sounds fantastic!

Tonight a tiny pour of Stagg Fall 05, but hell it's Stagg you don't need much at 141.2 proof.

Last night I had some home-roasted Mexico Organic Nayarit Terruno coffee accompanied by a Cuban Romeo & Julieta Churchill. My favorite cigar, bar none, and an excellent match to the coffee.

Had a couple of fingers of The Balvenie Double Wood 12 year. One more dram and I will finish off the bottle - that is some good stuff. I certainly will be replacing this bottle.

Finished off my first bottle of The Macallan 12 last night! First scotch I ever sampled, first bottle I ever bought(I'm just a wee lad). I still have a few Glens to keep me company however.

I haven't tried the Doublewood, yet, but I've had the Single barrel 15. Mighty fine! I saw a bottle of the Balvenie 1971 vintage for only $600, and the 1972 for iirc $700

You could always change it up with the Balvenie 10 year Founder's Reserve, see how they compare.

A 2002 bottle of Toasted Head Merlot shared with a friend. Rich flavored, a bit pungent, delicious with the roasted chicken and vegetables.

I did share it, but I drank most of it.

Goodnight!

I picked up a "bin end" 2002 Meursault by Le Meurger tonight for a tenner.

As soon as I poured a glass, I knew that it was a bad 'un

It was gold in colour and it was oxidised

I'll pay the supermarket a visit tomorrow with the offending bottle

I thought "sod it" and opened bottle no. 23977 of Fuller's 1999 Vintage Ale

After taking an extremely pleasant mouthful, I wondered what would be the perfect partner

Glenlivet 18

Rittenhouse BIB neat...then followed up with a Rittenhouse BIB and Ginger. This is my first experience with the Rittenhouse BIB...usually I have WT Rye on hand. It was good neat and makes a great Rye/Ginger Cocktail. I will have to do a head to head with the WT Rye, but seeing as both are less than $20, I find them pretty good deals. I would love to try the Sazerac offerings.

I haven't really searched and tried a bunch of them. I usually just pick up Thomas Kemper Ginger Ale. If there is one that you like more than others let me know...maybe I am missing out.

Last night I had a couple pours of Makers Mark. I need to finish off this 1.75 bottle to make some room. I think I will be replacing it with a Weller 12 and maybe a OW 107.

Ginger Ale? Vernors (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vernors), FTW!

It used to be about impossible to find outside of Michigan, but since they sold out to big industry it might be easier to find.

I'll have to keep my eye out. I have heard of the stuff but haven't come across it. If I do I will have to pick some up. Thanks for the heads up Dennis!

Had a little tasting last night...since a couple bottles arrived and picked another up at lunch.

Fist...Buffalo Trace...It is sweet with a background of spice coming through...I get a buttery flavor as well. Definitely a great everyday pour for the price. Very impressed and easy drinking.

After Dinner ORVW Special Reserve Lot B...Wow...now this stuff is fantastic. Such character from a Wheat Bourbon. Sweet yet spicy and astringent...all these flavors comingling...very complex. At the price it won't be an everyday pour...but seems better than the price paid. Makes be curious of the ORVW10/107 and PVW 15.

For Dessert OGD 114...a short pour along with a piece of Apple Streusel Cheesecake. This is a powerhouse of flavor...spicy and piquant. Orange and leather come to mind. A great cold weather pour...it will keep you warm. This would be a good bourbon even at a higher price tag.

Thanks for the recommendations guys...I have been very happy with my purchases so far.

After getting the grass cut and spreading mulch for a few hours, I decided I was entitled to relax. I fired up a nice tasty Griffin's robusto and poured a Sam Adam's Boston Lager. Very nice together.

For any of you new cigar smokers... The Griffin's is a very nice medium/mild cigar with a Connecticut shade wrapper made by Davidoff. It has a spicey/peppery taste like most Dominican cigars. A robusto retails for about $6 and the B&M. (Unless you live in one of those states with oppresive tobacco taxes)

Dinner at ristorante Verona, nice Italian place here in Antwerp:

White Martini/ green olives
funghi trifolati (just mushrooms with olive oil, white wine and garlic in the oven, very tasty indeed)
Tortelaci giganti al funghi porcini (giant ravioli filled with more mushrooms and ricotta). Good buttery sauce and rucola on top.
Bottle of Tramin 2004. (Italian grown gewürztraminer?). Good dry, mineral taste.
Cappucino

Had a couple of fingers of Laphroaig Cask Strength 10 year last night in the Reidel Vinum glass. The difference was I added a bit of spring water (the bottle actually says 2 parts water to 1 part whisky) but I went with a few drops. It really changed the characteristics of the whisky - toward the better in my palate's opinion. The smoke and peat REALLY came out pronounced and made for a bit less bite to it. Very enjoyable.
