Top left photo is looking out the Musée d'Orsay, non? Great view of the city from the observation deck area in that place. I have to say I almost found d'Orsay more impressive than the Louvre.

Forgot to compliment, Sorry. Nice pics! Well done! But where did you go?

Thanks guys. =) We did Paris, Rome and Florence... way too hectic for 2 weeks, but we definitely went for coverage. =) In summary: don't go to Paris in March, go to Italy as often as possible. Paris is photo-worthy, but was very tedious.

In order: d'Orsay in Paris, a random door in Florence, inside the Church of the Dome in Florence, Saint-Severin in Paris, a sunset in Paris.

If you guys are interested in the whole crazy adventure, I've added a Europe area to our wedding site (it was planned to be a honeymoon, but was more vacation in the end). You can just go straight to "Europe", 2nd from the last. Flash 7 required. http://kennethwoodruff.com/wedding/

My wife liked d'Orsay a lot, but I wasn't crazy about their presentation. Lots of hot lights right over the work, making some of it difficult to see. The building is definitely amazing. There was a great, temporary exhibit of Bastien-Lepage paintings there (with whom I have been embarrassingly unfamiliar), so that was a big takeaway for me. http://www.artcyclopedia.com/artists/bastien-lepage_jules.html

The Louvre was top notch in so many ways, but failed in a few fundamental ways. Who would retool a palace into a world-class attraction, raking in bazillions of people every day, and only put 2 urinals and 1 toilet in each bathroom? It was also over-complicated in its structure and it's difficult to find anything specific. Foiled by the French again!

We tried to get in there about a month ago. There were hundreds of people waiting in line before they opened. Then just a few minutes before the scheduled opening time, they made an announcement saying the museum would be closed until further notice. That's all. No indication of why or when it might reopen.

That sounds a lot like our visit to Paris in general... :cursing:

:crying: I lost 800 (out of 1000) of my pictures from my Europe trip (Finland/Sweden/Russia) to a hard drive failure. Only the best 200 were saved as they were stored on a separate drive because I was using them for video editing. Moral of the story? Burn them all to a CD/DVD, now.

Anyways, great photos. Sounds like you enjoyed the trip!

Man, that's terrible. I have two internal drives, and you bet they're backed up. Next is setting up a backup to tape.
