The Simpson Harvards seem to be neglected...I notice that a couple of sites list the Harvard 1, but the Simpson's site lists all the way up to H6, the size of a PL8! Is it just too similar a handle to the Persian Jar? I can't find much discussion of it, positive or negative.

It is indeed a rare handle style, and very few outlets carry the Harvard 1, let alone the other sizes. West Coast Shaving should have the Harvard in a few sizes in stock soon. I have also seen them at Shoebox Shave Shop. A Harvard is on my short list for next brushes to get.

I too would love to get a larger sized Harvard. I find them more attractive than the Persian Jars.

Simpson's site (simpsonshavingbrushes.com) has an order feature and will calculate international postage...I assume one could just order straight from them?

It just seemed odd that they're scarcely ever mentioned. Looks like a nice handle, though I'm still a bit bitter at the eponymous university.

I am awaiting a Simpson Harvard H4 (... patiently too, I might add. )

The handle seems a tad more interesting than the PJ, imo.

Yes, I believe you can order straight from them. I wouldn't worry so much about the University name. After all, with a Duke, a Berkeley and a Case, I am detecting a trend. :001_smile

I believe you can find them at the Superior Shave IIRC

Four come to mind. The Superior Shave Carries the Harvard 1, Shoeboxshaveshop carries up to 4, Simpson themselves carries them all, and Diamondedge carries them all as well. Definitely not one you see a lot. Looking forward to when they arrive and we start seeing some pics! Wish we could see a full line up comparison like TSS does! :w00t:

Collegiate matters* and curds aside, the Harvard is quite a distinctive brush. It's size is really very small as far as the Simpson range is concerned. I thought about this one before getting the Duke 1. I doubt it has many competitors and am curious whether any here has one, and what they think about it.

All this has me wondering about the history and years of introduction for the various Simpson brushes, something I haven't found elsewhere. I mean, Cambridge and Oxford I could understand as this is a UK concern, but Harvard? How did this come to be?

* My former wife, a Yale grad school degree holder, wore a YALE sweatshirt in town during Princeton's alumni weekend while we were living therabouts - just to be provocative. One elderly gentleman said to her "miss, your shirt is dirty!" We loved it.
