I've always loved the smoooothness of this razor but have always trended to the Bull Mastiff / Mergress end of the beef scale. (or is it bacon?).
mer (Eric Maier of Mergress fame) wrote a few months ago about loading an DE89 handle with lead to add some heft and when I inquired, he immediately accepted my request to do the same for mine.
The deed was done by drilling in from the bottom of the threads, filling the cavity and tapping and capping it with a hex-head set screw at the bottom of the hole. Invisible.
I just received the handle (above and obviously unchanged) and the feel is much improved (IMO YMMV blah blah blah)
