Hi all, I am Junouk from Teesside UK.
Been having a wet shave for about 25 years but recently bought a merkhur DE razor a selection of blades, cream, soap and brush. So that's everything I need...
The blades have been ok some better than others, any suggestions on new blades and where to get them in UK
The brush is a Edwin Jagger badger brush. Why are the brushes so varied in price, think mine was around £20 but have seen some for £100
Did a bit of research and the Merkhur slant has been a good choice :thumbup1:
Tried some cream but not impressed find soap loads better. Any suggestions on good soap.
Ok well loving my new shave routine but any advice would be more than welcome.
Cheers all

Welcome to B&B!!
Sounds like you are off to a good start. The good thing is once you find a blade or two you really like you don't have to use the ones you don't like anymore!
As far as brush prices, it comes down to quality of hair, type of hair, amount of hair, handle material, handle quality, etc... You do not have to have a super expensive brush to get great shaves. Generally speaking the more expensive a brush the softer the hair will be.
As far as soaps go, there are so many great soaps. You could check out the reviews section and just go through some of the threads in the shaving soaps subforum to find something you like. There are the 3 T's: Trumpers, Truefitt and Hill, and Taylor of Old Bond Street. Then there is Mitchell's Wool Fat, Tabac, Cella, Mama Bear's, Arko, just really so many different ones that are good quality that you can't hardly list them all in one place.

Welcome to B&B! You're off to a great start! I love Ralph Lauren Safari soap. They don't make it anymore but lots of people still have stock to sell.
Welcome to B&B!
Pick-up a razor blade sample pack if you didn't already.

Welcome to B&B!
Blade selection is a decision that is personal to you, the razor you use and the soaps/creams you use to prepare for your shave. Best advice is purchase a sample pack and find what works for you. I just saw an offer for sale of a sampler pack of very highly rated blades tonite on our B/S/T forum. Check it out.

Thanks for all the welcome's
I have been around and picked up any blades I can find. Wilkinson, derby and perssona. So I have tried a few.
I cant believe the UK websites sell blades for £2 but want £5 for delivery and they just put it in an envelope lol.
But I keep looking for new blades.
As for the soap and brush I have enough for now but will try to find somewhere that sells them.
Have not found anywhere that sells over the shelf products (apart from the Internet) and as I don't really know what I am looking for it is a little bit of guess work. The razor was ok, loads of reviews on here and other sites that made my choice easy. Not to expensive (wish I had the futur) and paid a little more but I will get a new one in time.
I keep looking.. Thanks again form the welcome.

Cheers LUC
Had a look at the on line sites but to be honest as I am new to DE shaving instead of the usual cartridge style shaving I wanted to feel and see the difference between the brushes and soap.
None of the shops within about 100 miles of me lol. But I do keep looking and have found a few options in TKMax of all places.
I am very happy with what I have now and what I am doing so there is not any rush to get something new, I am just enjoying having what I would call a real shave and I want the best I can get :biggrin1: I will keep looking and I will no doubt find the best kit to suit me.

Those shops are not exclusives... You might have something close to you... Silly example... Boots... They carry a couple of thing and your local Boots should have similar if not the same. There's probably another store in there that might be close to you! If you do find something, please update Wiki!

Will do. Any of the shops own Braden blades any good? Tesco, boots and ASDA all have own branded blades. Cost nothing so must be worth a try.

Someone in the UK should be able to answer this one... :001_smile
