Oh, how I want to reach through the internet and slap somebody sometimes.

Dear eBay sellers,

That part on the 3 piece razor that your selling, which doesn't seem to fit correctly, is called the base plate. It would fit much better if you turned it around.

Also, since your razor comes in a box that says Super Speed, you may be stunned to learn that Super Speed is the name of the razor, not Fat Boy.

Furthermore, your shaving set does not "come complete with a septic stick" as you have written. If you ever do find yourself with a septic stick, however, please seek medical help immediately!

Sincerely,
DamnFineBob

I have corrected sellers on errors of fact before, but they never seem to take my comments in the helpful spirit they were intended  so I've learned to hold my tongue.

OTOH, I don't get judgmental about people not being experts on every minor detail of what's admittedly a pretty niche hobby even by niche hobby standards.

And, please...

"A packet of razors"?
Those flat metal things with sharpened edges are called BLADES!

Also - if it's a brass or copper color, it's not 'rare' or 'one of a kind' it's just old and worn and all the plating has gone...

I've seen many Super Speeds that have been incorrectly listed as Fat Boys.... It's also interesting to observe the amount of views an incorrectly listed Fat Boy gets in comparison to a correctly advertised Super speed!

People seem to put the word's Fat Boy in to justify the high starting bid!

I didn't know they made three-piece superspeeds. Not being facetious, just if they make a three-piece superspeed I would like get my hands on one. I'm not a fan of TTO's at least not so far so that would be great.

"Item is used, but in good condition and shave-ready!"

Yeah, no. :mad3:

The English call those sharp flat things just that - "razors" - and correctly so in their country. Different uses for words depending on where you are.

I tried to correct a seller of a slim adjustable who was selling as a Fat Boy. I was polite, but didn't want some well-intentioned gift-giver to be bidding or something not recognizing the difference.

She thanked me for helping as it was her first razor listing--then she never changed the auction name to correct it, or even post my info in her Q&A. :(

I was watching a "mint" slim that still had a crusty blade in it. Claimed to be brand new! It also had water marks on the head!

I noticed a fat handled Tech today, that was put together wrong. I believe it sold for less than 2 dollars. Thought about sending in a notice that you could take a picture of it put together correctly, but since it was about to sell, I figured what the heck.
I have tried to correct sellers before, and I have been told "hey, I am selling it as is, so thanks for your correction, but I am not changing anything" Decided to just stay out of the eBay correction business after that.

I've actually had some rather gracious answers from sellers. Typically, those involve things more along the lines of "that's a ball-handled NEW, not an old type" rather than obviously misrepresented slims -- sellers that're genuinely mistaken can be grateful sometimes.

I thank Heaven for small favors that misrepresented slims don't represent more of the fat boy market...of the current thirty-five "fat boys" on eBay, only five are misrepresented (all slims). One in seven ain't bad. For a hive of scum and villainy like eBay.

I have and been thanked, but a couple times, once in particular the guy called me a couple nasty names. I couldnt believe a seller would do that. I am tempted to buy something cheep from him, in the future and then give the guy negative feedback! payback, but then he would know my address. I dont need no nut at my door, if you know what I mean.

I've contacted sellers with corrections - usually a good response and only the occassional aggro. The nasty one I kept badgering until he included my info on the listing - I DON'T like to lose and he was just wrong
