Doesn't seem to be all dried up, far from it actually. Has quite a bit of scent left too. (not sure if it's good scent yet...)

Try to make lather with it and, if good, use it.

You've all convinced me! Not that I needed much mind you. I got this with a huge score from my wife's uncle. He had an old tube of colgate shave cream but it looked like it had leaked or something... Would not have shaved with it in that shape.

Perhaps this weekend I will lather it up and see how it goes. All I've tried so far is my Proraso White tub of soap, and am itching to try some others now that I don't totally suck at making lather.

Has anyone ever heard of this soap tho? I can't find anything about it anywhere on the internets.

Why wait for the weekend? Whip up a batch now and have a go at it.

Well it couldn't wait until the weekend, had to try it out this morning. I don't know if I can speak to it's protective nature or irritation because it was my 3rd day in a row (usually go every other day) AND it was my 3rd day trying my "new-to-me" tech.

This soap might be sort of a fossil, but it's the fossil of a lather tyrannosaurus! Was a brand new puck but it softened up in a couple minutes with a little hot water on top (soaked it all in actually). Didn't load onto the brush too heavily but just exploded with lather. Was nice to see as I was never getting this much, this easily with my proraso sensitive. (perhaps there I am using too much product/not enough water).

It felt so good after the first couple of passes that I decided to try out some buffing and j-hooking for the first time. This is most likely the culprit of my neck irritation (new moves, new razor, 3rd shave Derby...) but it also lead to my closest shave yet.

The scent is... not unpleasant. It's hard to describe as it is fairly subtle but if I had to to choose one thing to call it, I'd have to say buttery. It's not floral, it's not spicy, it's not citrus... just butter.

Will continue to use this soap for the next week or 2 to get the full picture. (unless I acquire something new and exciting that will take attention away from this one... ha!)
