Hello everyone. Here is my first setup for wet shaving. The razor is a Merkur HD, and thanks for the posts, it is the best beginner razor. I have tried both the Merkur and Feather blades and I like them both so far. I have some more on the way to test out. My soap is Mitchell's Wool Fat. I have read some reviews about how hard it is to lather, but I have had no problem. My brush is a custom from an artist in Hawaii. She used badger hair and the handle is a wood native to Hawaii (sorry but I don't know what). Take a look and let me know what you guys think. I know the razor and soap are popular choices but I think the brush is pretty cool.

Thanks,
Nico

Yea that is a cool looking brush. I havent tried the MWF yet but heard good things about it. Im curious what kind of wood the brush is made from.

I think it's a wood from the bamboo family native to Hawaii. I will find out from the artist that made it.

Thanks
Nico

You have a very nice set up there. I love the brush! Is it fluted? Can you post more pictures of it? Does the maker have a web page?

Welcome to the B&B. Your setup looks great, but I don't think you left yourself enough excuses to go buy more shaving supplies... ;-)

I may not have to upgrade my razor or brush in the near future but I can and will experiment with soaps and after shaves. My next buy (soon) will be DR Harris Arlington soap in the dark wool bowl. I hear its really nice. IMHO, that will be a great 2 soap rotation.

I look at wet shaving as a life style now. Its about pampering yourself and feeling great. I also love the way things look and I believe a quality shave den should be a display for the eyes as well.

Thanks,
Nico

Love the set-up!

I really like the brush-holder, too. It looks big enough for the boar I've been playing with... did it come with the brush?

Yes, the holder came with the brush. About $100 bucks, give or take. PM if you want the website.

Nico

Folsom makes me thing of Mr. Cash.

Anyway, welcome. I'm new around here as well but everyone is incredibly nice and helpful. As you might have heard the brush is very handsom. MWF is the only other product I'm considering adding to my setup (I'm starting the good fight against the various AD's early).
