Hello guys and gals Ive got a website in the works, ambroseshave.com :thumbup1:
I will be offering a steady stream of strops in a few staple leathers such as horse hide and cordovan. I will also have limited runs in different leathers. Along with the strops I will be offering fully restored custom straights that I hand select and razor services.
Some of you have read some of the reviews here and there about my spanish horse leather strops. I am sorry to have to announce that this leather had been discontinued.
I am offering the last of my spanish horse strops to the good members of B&B. These are my new standard strop model named "Veinte" or twenty because of its length. Its basically a balance of the models I was offering.
This strop is classy and traditional, nice and firm in surface tension, I find it is very well balanced. They are 2.5 x 20" long, barbers end with a 15-16 inch stropping surface area, 2.5" wide natural cotton canvas linen is standard, hand hammered debossed logo.
I have only 5 of the spanish horse strops left for sale. all sold or pending
Next week, I have hard compressed buttery horse hide that is on the way. As well as some more deep chocolate cordovan. I should have about only 5 of the cordovan strops for this round.
Interested members please message me for details if you want a strop.
If you are interested in all things new with Ambrose Shave please subscribe to be notified with new updates.

I love my Ambrose strop so I might just have to think about getting a second one when you get your site up and running Jose.
My friend Jose, congratulations and good luck! :thumbup1:
Meh... maybe I will take you up on some of your services some day....after you get a site up or something....
Not too sure about all the pics of the nice strop's, the before and after pics of the razor's you have sharpened to a mirror finish, all the people that have nothing but praise of your services.... probably all rumors and photoshop.:tongue_sm
All joking aside... Jose... I wish you all the very best on your endeavor...:thumbup:
I predict that the package that I sent you should be there today or tomorrow.
The tee is a new addition to our Local...so let me know if the size is correct after a washing. Our prior vendor's shirt's had a tendency to run a bit smaller after a cycle in the wash/dryer.
For those who may have not had the pleasure of dealing with Jose...one heck of a stand up guy. I do have one concern though after he get's done with a few of the razors I sent off to him.... me needing a transfusion when I get them back.
Thanks for the great CS....and I will be talking to ya soon.:thumbup1:

I still expect you to notify me, personally, about any new "limited edition" leathers you decide to make strops out of! I demand first dibs!!
Also, will Classico still be available? It's the absolute perfect length for me.
Good Luck, Jose! Your strops are phenomenal, and I eagerly await my Cordovan!

I have not been on B&B long but I have yet to see even one bad review of anything done by Ambrose.
As for why I have not ordered my strop from him? I have serious carpal tunnel in both hands and I would hate to break the news to him that I have turned one of his famous strops into mince meat inside of a week :tongue_sm but maybe one day when I know I can strop and not chop I will order one from Ambrose

Good thing I'm about to send a batch off to the BST! Your strops are, by and far, my favorites; Right up there with my SRD English bridle, so I can't wait to see what comes out next!

Hey Jose,
what's the status of your new leathers? I see one on BST already. Is this the only leather you have in stock at the moment?

Ive got samples of high quality english leathers on the way. At hand I have a few premium horsehide Clįsico which are 2.5 x 24 and maybe 1-2 cordovan. Im also working on something extra for the strops but you have to wait and see when I am ready to show haha :biggrin1:

I feel very lucky to have one of the Spanish horsehide strops. It is without a doubt my favourite. A litle bit sad there won't be any more but I know whatever will come will be equivalent if not superior quality.

Well, since I can't start my own thread...(must be a member for 45 days or at least 50 post's) I guess this will do.
After reading the numerous threads and post's about Ambrose/Jose's honing skills and his strops... I decided to PM him regarding some razor's that needed some attention.
Within a very short time I had a reply from Jose regarding the work I needed, and what strops were available. Happy with the pricing, prompt replies, and obvious great reviews... I PP'd monies to him, and sent off my razors to be honed.
Everything went well...and my razors arrived without incident.
Now at the same time all this was happening, I purchased a straight off of the BST thread...and this particular razor had been honed by Jose. This razor arrived within a day of me shipping out my razors to Jose.
I had a shave with this TI...and I was amazed at how nice it was to shave with...this was of course due to the amazing edge that was put on the razor by Jose. I came to this conclusion...due to the fact that I have the same razor and it gave me a great shave...but no where close to this one.
Shortly after Jose received my razors I got PM confirmation that they arrived....then another PM...I get before/after pics of my razors.
Within a week my razors are back home...and my new strop is with the razors. Pretty darn good turn around time considering we had a holiday weekend to contend with.
I sent to Jose a Dovo Ironwood 5/8, TI Legrot 6/8, and a Solingen Classic.
2 of the razors were purchased off of the BST, and the Dovo I got new.
My first shave was with the Dovo...and I tried to shave with this when I first got it...and it was supposed to be shave ready. Not so much... it was purchased from a very reputable vendor...and honed by a very reputable honemeister... (no I'm not saying).
My shave with the Dovo was amazing.... it's now the way I anticipated the razor would have shaved when I first got it. No tug, smooth hair popping draw, and after 3 passes... (with, across, and against)... had the best shave to date. Furthermore...when I applied the AS...had less "burn" than any shave prior. Even though I no longer get post shave irritation...I still have a "burning" sensation for 20 - 30 min post shave....this was not apparent at all this time.:thumbup1:
Jose, the edge you put on these razors are incredible, and second to no one IMHO.
So... to confirm this was not just due to having a great razor...2 day's later...pull the TI.
In a "nutshell" same results...wonderful shave...no "irritation".
Only thing I had left to "play with" was the new strop that I had from Jose...after letting the Dove "rest" for 4 day's...went to the spanish horse strop with it....
Wow... I like this strop...and it looks like I was fortunate to get one before they were gone. I made 20 passes on this strop with the Dovo...and I had to stop myself...the razor was plenty sharp...but the draw on this strop is addicting...and like nothing I have experienced (limited) to date.
Much less draw (really smooth, light draw strop) than my tripple tanned Ox hide from screaming pig. The full hollow Dovo really seemed to like it. Craftsmanship is excellent, and it will last me a lifetime, and makes this strop a perfect addition to the Ox that I have.
Jose, thanks for dramatically improving my shaving experiences.
Your customer service is great, and you can certainly put an edge on a razor...
Love the strop...and I guess timing is everything...as I see you sold out of the Spanish Leather's... I am extremely happy with mine...thanks again.
Anyone looking for excellent services, honing, strop's... I must say that I am extremely impressed with Ambrose/Jose.
Do yourself (and your face) a favor...and send him a razor. It's just that much of a difference.:thumbup:

Nice post and well deserved. I had Jose restore two of my razors and one of my brother in laws. He is also honing a razor for me now that was suppose to be shave ready, it wasn't but soon will be.
He puts one heck of an edge on a razor.

Okay, I'll bite.
How in the heck does one buy an ambrose razor strop? I mean from Jose himself, directly, avoiding the middleman and obligatory markup.
I want to support the guy directly.
Thanks in advance.
