A week ago I jumped into shaving with a double edge razor with both feet. So far, there have been few injuries :thumbup1:

I purchased my setup from The English Shaving Company and they were very helpful. I chose the Edwin Jagger Bulbous Barley razor with Derby blades and Edwin Jagger Bulbous Barley silver tip badger brush for my equipment, with Proraso preshave cream and Taylor of Old Bond sandalwood shaving cream. I'm really digging the sandalwood scent, but have a long way to go to build up a good lather.

So far I'm thoroughly enjoying the double edge experience, but have some areas to work on, that's for sure. I haven't quite worked out the best angle to shave the lower part of my throat or right under my jaw. I need some more work with the lather as well.

Here in the near future I would like to try out Castle Forbes Cedarwood & Sandalwood cream and L'Occitane Cade cream. With my pepperminty body soap, I should smell like a Christmas lumber mill then

Speaking of scents, I was wondering just how many scents a person should be using. I feel like having a different smell from a shampoo, body soap, deodorant, shaving cream and aftershave will become too much to handle. I'm trying to keep the scents to a minimum and complementary to each other.

Complementary as opposed to conflicting and overwhelming seems the way to go. I picked up some C.O. Bigelow shave cream in the green tube (the Proraso repackage) at Bath and Body Works. C.O. Bigelow had a similar scented body and hair wash, so I just bought a couple of tubes of that. While this is an example of a perfect match, a perfect match doesn't seem to me to always be necessary.

If you're going to start sampling different creams and after shaves, I imagine you don't also want to become a "body wash/soap/shampoo aquisition disorder sufferer."

DO NOT BUY CADE SHAVING CREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have NEVER heard a single kind word about it. Cade Soap is well loved by most (I love it too), but Cade shaving cream is one of the all-time worst creams in the history of mankind. Check out the reviews or do a search.

Welcome to the B&B. I've found that some scents, such as the shaving soap, fade really quickly and don't need to be considered. As for most of the rest of them, I try to go unscented or as lightly scented as possible to let the cologne be the star.

It seems to work as I often receive compliments on the way I smell.

Welcome to B&B!! How many scents to wear at one time; I really only care about my SS/SC; everything else is unscented as of now; that those usually fade in a relatively short time.

Welcome to B&B.... It appears you have selected some nice products and are on your way. Don't get discouraged however early on. It takes a bit of practice and time before you have that sort of "A-Ha!" moment when it all starts to come together for you.

Welcome to the Badgers' Den!

I'll tip the glass with you, as long as the Swans can keep the Lions at bay. Or even if the Lions get up, you'll do to drown my sorrows with (Sydney Vs Brisbane for those of you who aren't following Real Footy... Australian Rules Football)!

Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

I do have a quick question that I haven't been able to find, but does Castle Forbes offer their products in any chain store? I'd like to smell their cedarwood and lime creams, but would like to avoid spending $40 on each and not enjoy the scents.

No idea but have a look at the shaving supplies list: http://wiki.badgerandblade.com/index.php/Category:Shopping_by_Country
