View Full Version : How much facial hair have you got?

Pumpkin
08-24-2010, 02:53 PM
Not sure if this has been asked before.

As I was sitting enjoying my lunch-time pipe and people watching (the Edinburgh Festival is in full swing), it occurred to me to wonder how much facial hair the noble gents of B&B can muster?

Personally, I'm clean shaven (apart from an occasional lapse) much to Mrs Pumpkin's pleasure :thumbup1:

At the moment a moustache, but had a goatee for many years, and will probably return to that.
SWMBO demands some facial hair.

And yet another goatee; take it off once a year just for fun.

LinuxMintyFresh

Goatee. I assume that is represented by "Beard" and "Moustache."

By the way, "I'm a Lady!" does not equal "I have no facial hair!" I mean, I've seen some ladies rockin' some pretty gnarly 'staches, and one or two that could knock me down a couple notches in a chin-hair growing contest. C'mon girls, be honest...

I -have- to be clean shaven, because I can't grow a beard. I get mass growth on my neck but my cheeks, chin, and mustache area barely grow. So unless I want a neck beard I have to shave. If I could grow a full on beard shaving wouldn't even be a hobby.

Once I started writing the poll I realised there were several permutations possible...so I made it multi-choice

Which also covers your second query!

Moustache and a goatee.

+1. This is what is on my face right now. The goat may come and go, but the moustache always stays.

Mustache for the last 40 years. Shaved it off about 5 months ago (that lasted all of 3 weeks), the wife & kids gave me hell so I grew it back. The real reason I grew it back is because I DID NOT RECOGNIZE MYSELF when I looked in he mirror!!!

I keep a "chin beard". I don't know the actual name for it. It's not huge and thick, but certainly present. It helps me stand out amongst my high schooler mates.

And I still get to have my shaving fun, every day. I always have noticeable stubble to shave every day. Not bad for my age, i'd say. I'm enjoying it!

Clean shaven, though I do have really short sideburns that go to about the middle of the way down my ear. I don't know if that counts as sideburns though.

Mr. Imperial
08-24-2010, 09:35 PM
Though I've been clean-shaven, had sideburns, had mutton-chops, had a goatee, and had a full beard, my usual state is sideburns that extend to the jaw line.

Normally clean shaven, but I'm sporting a few days stubble since I've spent the last couple days off just goofing around with my brother and nephew before my brother leaves again on deployment with the Navy. Over the years I've tried side burns, goatee, soul patch, full beard, etc... and I look horrible with any of that!! After switching over to wet shaving two tears ago, I realized that I had been trying to justify a style that would let me skip shaving for as long as possible.

Normally I just wear a long goatee (goatee in the sense of no mustache). I've heard this called an emperor's goatee FWIW.

But, SWMBO recently asked me to go to a steam punk convention with her, so for my costume I decided to grow mutton chops out as well.

I know, strange things, but I do strange things for her.

At the moment I have a goatee, but I'm growing in side burns, intending to shave off the goat.
It all depends on my mood.
I change every few months, so sometimes I'm clean shaven, while I'll have the Grizzly Adams look at others.
I have enough facial hair to be able to wear all these different styles, so I've always felt it my duty to those with 6 gangly chin hairs, to grow it out with some style :thumbup1:

Full, 3 inch long beard and 'stache here. I've worn some type of facial hair since high school. Started with a goatee and 'stache, and went to a full beard about 3 or 4 years ago. I usually go back to the goat/'stache combo in the summer, but this year I decided to leave the full beard. I shave my neck though. It has to be BBS at all times :biggrin1:

I'm clean shaven for the moment. I periodically grow beards, but I invariably shave them off after several months. I want to grow a beard à la Czar Nicholas II (short, but full beard with a fairly large handlebar mustache). I can't quite pull that one off for the time being (will have to wait a few years, i suppose), and thus I'm clean shaven. :001_rolle

That's true of a lot of guys, I think. Many of the men I see who attempt to wear goatees or mustaches or other facial hair just end up looking absurd and would be better off going clean shaven. Some can pull it off, though. Like cowboys.

depending on when you catch me, i've had most of those and then some:
-clean shaven
-goatees of various lengths (with and without stache)
-chin strap
-full beard (from 1/4" up to 3")
-sideburns
-wolverine/fezzik chops
-plain stache
-the ambrose burnside civil war chop-stache
-handlebar with full 360 curl
-fumanchu
-etc

i currently have a 1" goatee with stache, but i'm feeling a nice fu coming on in the upcoming weeks.

I leave a little hair on my face that I try to keep with sharp angled lines. I have a round face so the angular cut give my face more definition. I tried clean shaven and I just don't like it at all. My hair grows slow and shaving everyday is not the best for curly hair so. I read that a good straight razor shave should last two days so I shave every other day. I also have sideburns to balance the face. Symmetry is the goal.
