I have an idea to make a section so we can post feedback on member trades, sales and purchases.

That is a good idea but do not know if it is necessary. I have sold quite a few items and always get great PM's Thanking me. Which is greatly appreciated but if we can not trust each other there is a problem. A newbie I could see but they would not have any feedback anyway. I know if I sold something that someone was not happy with I would go above and be on to make them happy, just like I would for eBay. I also feel if one of us did screw another member everyone would hear about it. Just my two cents but I do see your point.

My first thought on this is that while the intent behind the idea is good, it's not really necessary. And I'll explain why I feel this way in a minute.

Don makes two excellent points here - and he does a LOT of business outside this forum, as well as doing some on the fora. There are some members who do make a business out of buying and selling on the fora, but for the most part, those who buy/sell/trade on the board are not doing it to make money. Regardless of remunerative motivation, we are all gentlemen here, which presumes a certain code of behavior. One simply assumes that the person he deals with will follow ethical and decent practice as well, and if he does not, then several options are available, not least of which is that the pressure of his peers can be used to bring him around. And around here, even that is done sub rosa, politely, and in a gentlemanly fashion - something that exists rarely in the rest of modern society. Even Amazon's "feedback" system does not have the politeness or civility that I have come to expect from B&B, and certainly eBay's does not. I would hate to see a feedback system come into play here where ratings and feedback were used as a bludgeon or as a means for a personal vendetta - and the potential exists. Most of us are not here for commerce, and what commerce we do is rightfully between individuals for the most part.
I think that when it is appropriate for the community to participate in general feedback on a transaction, such as the recent Pay It Forward's that have occurred, we do so, appropirately. When certain things are done that are inappropriate, community members have gently nudged the offending member, such as making counteroffers publicly, or over "bumping" one's own sale item. We police ourselves well, IMO. And if any member has a problem with a sale or trade from another member, I believe that member would do whatever it took to make it right. When feedback on a sale needs to be public, it is - look at the threads where the person buying thanks the member selling for promptly shipping and talks about how nice the item is.
Sorry, didn't mean to get off on a rant, here - but I feel very strongly that these fora are a "safe haven" from a lot of the rudeness and uncivility one encounters on the rest of the Internet and in life in general - and IMO, this feedback idea, while laudable in conception, in execution has the potential to degenerate into more uncivility and strife than usefulness.

I think you people are thinking negitivly.
I was thinking of the feedback for rewarding people.
I have bought and sold many items here and have NEVER had a problem.
More of a "KODOS" forum.

I know what you meant, and the idea of giving kudos where appropriate is, well, appropriate - which is exactly what I said before.
Your idea is a wonderful one. The danger of it becoming a negative thing as I discussed, is a real possibility.
That is all I was pointing up, and it was only my opinion.

I'd like to echo what has been said here, with regard to the Buy/Sell/Trade Shave Mall, and dealings with other B&Bers. The atmosphere, respect, friendliness, and generosity that takes place on this board is incredible! KUDOS to all!
It is not uncommon to receive "extras" from other members when you buy or trade items in the Shave Mall. I recently bought some of Mama Bear's Mysore Sandalwood Cologne from TraderJoe. Because of YMMV, I ended up with something that I really enjoy. And, just today... two days later... I noticed that there were a couple of "extras" in the box!
When I sold my Merkur LH Classic, I did the same thing. It was to a new member, and it was my small way of "Pay It Forward". BTW... my niece had a cameo spot in that movie.
Given the fact that many of the posts made get buried within a few days, I think that the spontaneity of a specific post is still the best approach. Just my two cents.
Tchau,
