I have only been a member for a short time and this site has taken over my life!!!
Every time I switch on the comp my first port of call is B&B.
Am I weird?

Not at all mate, although I was offline for a few months (transfered offshore) whenever I have the chance I log in. This is a great place, and what I like the most is the members in this comunity, real nice people. You'll find tons of information, not only shave related.

Welcome aboard!

Possibly, but not because you frequent B&B first. :001_rolle

Yes, because you apparently don't first check your e-mails to see what forums you have subscribed to have responses! :001_smile

Given that 90% of the high street and associated media is geared up to women "because they're worth it" it might feel a little bit unatural to be indulging in mens grooming..............

To paraphrase Forrest Gump, 'Weird is as weird does'. If you are weird, so are we all, and quite frankly, I am happy about it.:w00t:

Either it takes over your life, or we never hear from you again.

My first port of call when the computer goes on is usually TZ-UK as im a watch nut!
Shortly followed by TSR and here, many a few hours lost staring into the pc monitor 'researching' the best 'products' for my latest obsession!
At least this is cheaper than buying watches by far:thumbup1:

Sorry, you're going to have to explain that one.

There is such a wide variety of information here, from clothing, to adult beverages, food , tea and coffee to shaving products and razors and even just clowning around that it's easy to get lost here in all the interesting stuff.

I love it here, it's a great place to spend a chunk of time just browsing and posting.

It’s simple, your body has been snatched:

"Less than a month ago, Santa Mira was like any other town. People with nothing but problems. Then, out of the sky came a solution. (B&B) Seeds drifting through space for years took root in a farmer's field. From the seeds came pods which had the power to reproduce themselves in the exact likeness of any form of life...Your new bodies are growing in there. They're taking you over cell for cell, atom for atom. There is no pain. Suddenly, while you're asleep, they'll absorb your minds, your memories and you're reborn into an untroubled world...Tomorrow you'll be one of us...There's no need for love...Love. Desire. Ambition. Faith. Without them, life is so simple, believe me."

Thanks Phil. Just not sure what he means by not checking emails to see which forums I have subscribed to.
Am I missing something here?

The whole shaving thing is both my hobby and my obsession. I'm always thinking about the next shave, razor, shaving bowl, brush, etc., when I already have more than enough shaving gear for several lifetimes. Weird is Wonderful! Normal people don't have nearly as much fun!

When you post in a thread, you have "subscribed" to it. I.e., you'll be notified by e-mail when someone posts in a thread you have posted in. Go through your "User CP" and you'll find an option to do this or disable the function.

You can "subscribe" to specific threads that interest you, and you will receive e-mail notifications when those threads you have flagged are updated.

If you want to read in general you can just log in and read, but if there is a particular thread that you posted in and want to see the replies, or maybe about a specific issue you are interested in, a subscription to the thread lets you know there is a new reply in that thread.

Actually, subscribing is a separate and definitive act that must be taken by a member to receive notifications that a thread has been updated. Posting in a thread does not automatically subscribe you.

OK. I'll get the hang of it. Still don't know what promted ackvil to post that comment though. Not offended, just curious.
Perhaps he can tell me when he next comes on line.

I think what he means is that he is so "addicted" that he can't wait till the next time he signs on to check for updates, and that he has actively pursued a course of action where he gets e-mail notifications that a thread has been updated.
If you get e-mail on a smart phone, this means that anytime anything you subscribed to is updated, you get a notification on your phone, and you can immediately read it.
That's certainly a level of addiction higher than just logging in and reading what's new!

That's why I suggested checking "User CP". When you belong to as many forums as I do, you're never sure which one works how!

+1
I know I am a little weird, but would have it no other way! But help me understand, there are other places on the internets that are not about shaving? I must have forgotten about them, b/c B&B is the only thing in my history now. If I can find a way to get off of here, I might have to check out the rest; well maybe not. I'll just stay here.

You got that right. My first step is to check my e-mails to see if there are any updates on what forum topics I subscribe to. I do this before anything. I have gotten so compulsive about this that at times I have subscribed to ten different topics and anxiously await to see if there are any updates.

Ain't this fun?:001_smile

I'd have to say yes, since the way you put this implies that you sometimes turn your computer off.:001_smile

If you'd told me two years ago that I would be posting an average of four times a day on an Internet forum dedicated to shaving I wouldn't have believed it. My interest in the wide variety of razors is what keeps me at it, mostly. Others never seem to run out of things to say about soaps, aftershaves, brushes, shaving techniques, you name it. And of course, there's the general chatter you get on any forum, like this thread, for example.:001_cool:

Phew, glad it's not just me then. Wondering if it will wear off eventually. Never met such a great bunch of people on a forum.
Quick to reply and always helpful.
Thanks again
