I see a lot of you folks use something called Scrubbing Bubbles for cleaning old razors.

What is that stuff? Can't seem to get it in UK. Has it got another name?

Scrubbing bubbles is a bathroom cleaner from SC Johnson. If you haven't heard of it before, it's probably not available. That's not to say that the same stuff wouldn't be under another brand name in the UK. I've personally found that most bathroom cleaners work pretty well.

Most of the gunk on razors is soap scum and hard water deposits, so I would imagine that anything made to clean those things should be fine.

The subject has come up before, and, if I remember correctly, someone gave a U.K. equivalent. Perhaps a search on "Scrubbing Bubbles" will reveal it. You might give it a try. Good luck!

According to this thread (http://badgerandblade.com/vb/showthread.php?t=66920), it's CIF Bathroom Mousse.

Plain borax works just as well as scrubbing bubbles, if not better. I've used it on 21 different types of razors so far, and it hasn't damaged any of them, so it's safe for any kind of plating.

We use Lysol Brand II I.C. Foaming Disinfectant Cleaner at work on our EMS equipment.
In the mornings when we change crew's/ shift, we clean the rig (seats, steering wheel, ect)....all the gear bags, monitor, ect.
We also use it for everyday cleaning in the station. After years of using the IC, I can't say that it's faded, distorted, or damaged any equipment.
About the only thing that I don't like about it, is it will leave streaks on glass, shiny surfaces...so once disinfected with the IC, we have to follow up the windows, ect... with window/glass cleaner. Honestly one of the best disinfectants... 10% bleach/water solution. I do know bleach can...and will be hazardous to metals if left on, not wiped off...ect. This is common at the 100% strength/solution though.

And if you want your razor to sparkle after you clean it, apply some Sprayaway to it and wipe it off. Sprayaway is now available at home improvement stores and is used as a glass cleaner. My wife used it on our stainless steel refrigerator and then I tried it on my Progress, FB, and Slim.

If there are stubborn deposits (limescale, etc) I just use Shower Spray (any supermarket own brand works), before soaking in Fairy anti-bacterial washing up liquid.

Thanks for all the suggestions. Cleared it up for me.
