Got the FP out for a run today, another razor that I should use more often, a delightful compact razor that delivers a bigger bunch than it looks, Ginger's soap, I'm still out about this, it doesn't seem that slick to me, maybe it's my lathering with it, but I have no trouble lathering everything else, still the FP/GP combo did a fine job and a DFS was had.

After a day off (I wanted a small Geneva Cutlery inflicted nick to rest) I went with the birth year razor and the Bolzano. It handled my modest two day growth well and the second and third pass were very smooth. The SRD soap was good for the first pass but somewhat thin for the remainder. I did get a couple of passes on the dome with it although not very satisfying. Taking the boy out for dinner tonight to celebrate his upcoming 21st birthday on Wednesday. We'll toast his grandfather as well.

Framebacks have turned out to be my favorite shavers.
Yes I know, they are awesome. I'm becoming more & more a frameback-aholic...
It's a shame though that they are so hard to track down.
And insanely pricey.
And 98% of them are all fakes made in China from pressed tinfoil.
And the fact that the real vintage ones mainly were used in preparation of those who died from Ebola are off-putting to some too.

How's that Erasmic soap? I only know the cream version. Are the scents alike?
The scent is like a lemon candy, the lather is easy, a simple to use glycetine based soap.

The good framebacks are harder to find and I try to swipe them up within reason. There are quite a few faux framebacks and those just feel like a half hollow. I recently scored a real old Wosthenholm frameback that needs some work but it has a lot of potential.

Not a day off from a great shave however, I haven't done anything more than assemble the items to be used.... I want to take extra care and time in stropping today with the Tony Miller 3" Latigo Heirloom Strop. The 6/8 "Silver Fisher" Made in Germany Straight Razor has been plucked from the large glass Burma Shave Jar and will get no less than 50 linen and 100 leather strokes on the TM. Its a toss up these days on whether I swirl either the Somerset Era Simpson Tulip 4 or the Vulfix/Simpson/BullGoose Grosvenor 2 Band Super Badger in the Geo. F. Trumper Rose Shaving Bowl. Likely the Grosvenor today... Finishing with a half dollar sized splash of Alt Innsbruck and one simple spray of Floris Eau De Santal. Hopefully get this done in the next 3 hours.:001_smile

First go with the Coate's LE cream today. Nice stuff, but no better than the other top shelf English creams. I detected a slight tingling after a while, so I might be allergic to some of the ingredients. More testing required...

Today was also my first time with the Feather Stainless razor. My heavens, what a piece of work! Aesthetics, fit and finish are top notch. It's a mild but effective razor. I prefer milder razors anyway, coupled with higher quality, sharper blades. Again, more testing required!

First go with the Coate's LE cream today. Nice stuff, but no better than the other top shelf English creams. I detected a slight tingling after a while, so I might be allergic to some of the ingredients. More testing required...

Today was also my first time with the Feather Stainless razor. My heavens, what a piece of work! Aesthetics, fit and finish are top notch. It's a mild but effective razor. I prefer milder razors anyway, coupled with higher quality, sharper blades. Again, more testing required!

You may wish to try building your later in a mug/bowl, or a bit wetter brush when applying. The cream is especially rich and (seemingly?) concentrated.
As far as no better than this top shelf or that top shelf, that's why there are several brands, each appealing to its own constituency..

I find your comment on the Feather $$ to echo those of many others. Amazing how it is sooooo close a shaver when its apparent level of blade exposure and angle seem so mild.:yesnod:

The wife bought the Olibanum Citrus for me when we were in Coconut Grove a couple of weekends ago. She loves it. A masculine citrus. Cheap and it lasts all day, but it doesn't overwhelm people in the next office! I'm using the Tech until the Astra becomes dull, but it is still cutting the whiskers. I need to use one blade/razor at a time! Can't keep track of how long/how many shaves I've gotten out of each combo. Plenty of variety with the soaps/creams and scents.

Nice Thursday morning in central Italy.

Here is the setup:

Overall a very good shave. Second time with a Bolzano blade. It appears to be way better than Gillette Premium and Bic. I have also done my first ATG pass, only on the cheeks though. We'll see if I get any irritation.

My point exactly. Knowing I have quite a sensitive skin, as well as a tough beard, I decided to gradually try ATG. The mustaches area for example is basically off-limits for ATG. Also the chin area gives me troubles. Perhaps XTG might work.

To be honest,I thought it was a lousy pic, so I used one of those image effect tools from Photo Bucket to make it a bit exceptable to post.
